4 January 2023

Leaders can only thrive over the next 12 months if they are equipped with the necessary technical and relational skills. In response, this year’s ICAS courses and webinars have been designed to facilitate continued professional and personal development for CAs, including those in leadership roles.

Discover some of the upcoming ICAS webinars and courses created to support existing and aspiring leaders within the profession to develop their skills and knowledge:

Leadership and Personal Development Courses

Our leadership and personal development training courses (delivered in partnership with BPP Professional Development) cover a range of topics, including managing virtual teams, personal resilience, and effective communication.

Here are some of the courses which may be of interest to leaders in the coming months:

  • 19 January, Influencing Skills, Online Live

Influence is the basis of leadership. In the modern workplace the 'push' approach of telling people what to do is no longer viable and needs to be replaced by the 'pull' method - influencing people thoughtfully by communicating the merits of your message.

This course gives participants the tools, strategies, and confidence to influence and inspire others, whether it’s their team, their colleagues, or their customers.

  • 7 February, Confident Decision-Making and Strategic Thinking, Online Live

Making effective decisions and thinking strategically are vital business skills that some leaders find difficult to practically implement.

During this course, participants will learn simple techniques that they can employ to make better decisions with confidence, encourage creative ideas in others and create a change-responsive organisation.

  • 23 March, Stress Management - An Introduction, Online Live

Stress can adversely affect all professionals, particularly those in leadership roles. It can take its toll on your career, relationships and, above all, health. Developing resilience and dealing with stress calls upon the individual to raise their awareness, adapt their ways of thinking and maximise control.

This course will introduce participants to the resources and tools they need to manage stress at work and home.

Lessons on Leadership Webinar with Lord Simon Woolley

ICAS is hosting an online fireside chat with Lord Simon Woolley (crossbench member of the House of Lords and Principle at Homerton College) on 19 January at 11am GMT.

ICAS President, Indy Singh Hothi CA, will lead this in-depth conversation examining the importance of representation within leadership roles. As such, this webinar will be of particular interest to both aspiring and existing leaders.

Lord Woolley will draw on his impactful career as a pivotal race equality figure within UK Government and share how he endeavours to empower others through his many leadership roles.

Attendees of this event will hear Lord Woolley’s inspirational story first-hand and will be granted the opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A session. Depending upon your individual role and training and development needs, watching this webinar can also count towards your annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement.
