Inside ICAS: The Office Bearers' top talking points from 2021

23 December 2021

Join your Office Bearer team for a review of their top talking points from what was a busy, productive and positive year at ICAS.

President Bruce Pritchard CA, Deputy President Indy Hothi CA, and Vice President Clive Bellingham CA highlight some of the key ICAS initiatives and activities they’ve been talking about during 2021.

Bruce’s top talking point

In many ways, ICAS has led the way, and so too have you, our Members.

Bruce Pritchard CABruce Pritchard CA, ICAS President

"At this time of year, and with current pandemic-related events, it’s natural to begin thinking ahead to what might lie in store for us in 2022. However, whilst it’s good to plan, it’s especially important at the end of the year to stop, take a break and take stock. That pause provides the opportunity to reflect and realise what you have achieved, to consider the challenges you have overcome and the opportunities you have grasped. When I look back on the year from an ICAS perspective, I see a range of efforts and initiatives that were designed to help support and advance the cause of Members and Students, both as individuals and as a profession. In many ways, ICAS has led the way, and so too have you, our Members: in a year impacted by issues from climate change to Brexit and the pandemic, CAs have put their professional skills to great use and worked hard to deliver positive change. So, before the new year begins, let’s take a moment to pause, reflect and be proud."

Watch my end of year message to hear more on what ICAS and its Members achieved in 2021:

Indy’s top talking point

We’ve worked hard to keep sustainability issues at the forefront of people’s minds.

Indy Hothi CAIndy Hothi CA, ICAS Deputy President

"When I was appointed to the position of Deputy President, I stated that, amongst other themes, I wanted to focus on how ICAS and our profession could innovate for the future and promote CAs as a force for good in business and society. When I look back on the year, I can see a range of projects that illustrate these hopes in action. There’s no greater cause than the fight against climate change and this year ICAS and its Members have shown themselves to be up to the challenge. We’ve worked hard to keep sustainability issues at the forefront of people’s minds and through our digitally delivered CA magazine, webinars and CA Summit have provided enthusing and engaging content to promote the CAs at the sustainable vanguard and to amplify green ideas and insights from outside of the profession."

Clive’s top talking point

We still have further to travel but these are sure signs that we’re on the right road.

Clive Bellingham CAClive Bellingham CA, ICAS Vice President

"Back in May when I was newly appointed to the ICAS Office Bearer team I talked about a desire to focus on equality, diversity and inclusion. I’ve been a champion of EDI throughout my career and strived to focus on the fairness and strengths of businesses operating through diverse and inclusive teams. Reflecting on the year, I’m encouraged by the progress being made in this direction by ICAS and the profession. Our excellent Championing Unique Perspectives campaign helped give a voice to the full diversity of the ICAS membership and provided practical solutions to help us build EDI into our working practices. At the very beginning of the year ICAS introduced a revised Code of Ethics, amended to highlight the importance of CAs respecting values of equality, diversity and inclusion, and later in the year became a signatory of the Charter for Black Talent in Finance and the Professions. We still have further to travel but these are sure signs that we’re on the right road."

Visit the ICAS Diversity hub to find out more about all our EDI initiatives and to discover a selection of great features and interviews.

That’s all for 2021. We send you our season’s greetings, best wishes for the new year and look forward to talking with you again in 2022.
