CA opportunities at ICAS

Discover the fantastic opportunities available for CAs to work with ICAS.

The ICAS CA badge is globally synonymous with quality, with ICAS Members included among some of the world’s most respected business leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.

These individuals all have one thing in common - the expert tuition provided to them by the ICAS Learning Team who teach and guide tomorrow’s business leaders through rigorous training and examinations in accountancy and business, instilling in them the key knowledge, skills and values that will help them excel in their careers.

Following the launch of ICAS’s new syllabus, there are now new opportunities for experienced lecturers, ideally with practice/industry experience, to join the Learning Team and bring real-life examples into the blended classroom environment on a full-time, part-time or contractual basis. We also have opportunities for CAs to join us in other capacities such as moderators and markers, and exam writers on a contractual basis throughout the academic year.

Molly Jamieson CA, a current ICAS lecturer, said: “It is so exciting to be involved in the future of ICAS in general and to hear on an ongoing basis the different projects that are going on that will impact CA Students, not only in the next year, but in the longer term too.

“Most importantly, everyone in the Learning Team gets the opportunity to be involved in the planning, whether it is a panel discussion or a focus group, and everyone's opinion is valid no matter if you were in the door 2 minutes or 20 years.

“I personally love the updates the team get in relation to where Learning Transformation is at and the sneak previews of where everything is moving to.”

The recent syllabus change in 2020/2021 introduced the subjects of Business Acumen (focusing on the journey of an entrepreneur starting up their own business), Management Information & Technology (considering management accounting coupled with emerging technologies and data), Risk & Technology (focusing on approaches to risk management, emerging technologies, data analysis and decision making within a business) and Strategic Finance & Modelling (covering areas of corporate finance and planning including elements of modelling, forecasting and business advisory).

As part of the Learning Transformation Programme, ICAS is developing a range of new resources for CA Students at all levels of the CA qualification. New and innovative learning resources including interactive module guides, panel discussions, podcasts, infographics, animations, quizzes, etc. are being developed helping the CA Students to have varied and interactive learning whilst studying for each subject.

As we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, ICAS is exploring intuitive ways for CA Students to be able to interact with their peers and the Learning Team. TC induction events and study groups for all levels are being implemented from September 2021 and will allow CA Students to network together either in-person (dependent on restrictions) or virtually.

ICAS is exploring the delivery blend of subjects in the CA qualification and researching new and innovative teaching styles (both by tutors and digitally) to best deliver CA teaching and provide the optimum learning experience to CA Students.
