TC Scotland course dates

TC courses in Scotland are scheduled to start in September 2023.

Course information such as class dates, locations, and links to any online classes can be found in Advantage.

The Test of Competence consists of six courses:

  • Financial Accounting (FA)
  • Assurance and Reporting (AR)
  • Business Acumen (BA)
  • Principles of Tax (PoT)
  • Finance (Fin)
  • Management and Information Technology (MIT)

The first four courses above (FA, AR, BA and PoT) will be delivered through a blend of in-centre, live online-taught sessions and Advantage (online) sessions. The other two subjects (Fin and MIT) will be delivered through Advantage sessions only, with no live-taught element.

Assessments

Fin & MIT

Assessments

Starts September 2023 with FA, AR, PoT, BA to assessments in the week commencing 23 October 2023.

  • During the 6-week period, there will be a blend of in-centre classes, live online classes and Advantage days.
  • Exemptions are available for all courses.
  • Assessment results are planned to be reported on Wednesday 13 December 2023.
  • Each course includes two progress tests and a mock, all of which will be sat online and reported to students and employers shortly thereafter.

Fin and MIT to assessments in the week commencing 4 December 2023.

  • Fin and MIT are studied using Advantage.
  • Fin is 6 days and MIT is 6 days.
  • Exemptions are available for both subjects.
  • Employers may choose when their students study in preparation for the assessments in the week commencing 4 December 2023.
  • Assessment results are planned to be reported on Thursday 21 December 2023*.

PoT Plus to assessment in the week commencing 4 December 2023.

  • Students sitting Test of Competence and then moving onto the Skills level of our new syllabus are required to complete PoT Plus.
  • Students following the CA CTA joint programme are required to complete PoT Plus.
  • Students with an exemption for PoT are also exempt from PoT Plus.
  • PoT Plus is studied using Advantage (online).
  • PoT Plus is 2 days.
  • Employers may choose when their students study in preparation for the assessments in the week commencing 4 December 2023.
  • Assessment results are planned to be reported on Thursday 21 December 2023.
