Your key chance to give something back

Annual Renewal for 2023 membership is an opportunity for ICAS Members to give something back by donating to two key charities.

Each year, as ICAS Members complete the membership Annual Renewal process they are provided with an opportunity to donate to two charities.

The charities in question are key to individual ICAS Members and the wider profession, both now and in the future.

ICAS Foundation – invest in a fair future

Launched in 2012, ICAS Foundation makes a difference by supporting academically talented young people facing economic and social barriers to higher education. These barriers include low household income, challenging family circumstances, limited awareness of opportunities and living in areas of multiple deprivation.

This aim is achieved through financial support, a mentoring scheme and internships that add important skills and experience.

ICAS Foundation receives a generous annual donation from ICAS to meet some of its costs but also relies heavily on direct donations from ICAS Members, including donations made during the Annual Renewal process.

How to donate: You can donate online now or when completing your 2023 Annual Renewal.

SCABA – helping CAs in their time of need

Founded in 1919, The Scottish Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Association (SCABA) supports CAs, their dependants and prospective CAs who are in need. The charity helps those who have undergone life-changing events, such as redundancy, debt and ill-health, by providing grants, loans and support by phone, online or via visits.

SCABA also relies heavily on the generosity of individual ICAS Members and their charitable donations, again often made during the Annual Renewal process.

How to donate: You can donate online now or when completing your 2023 Annual Renewal.

Your donations are needed now more than ever

This year, as individuals, wider society and the economy all attempt to recover from the effects of the pandemic, the need for these charities’ assistance will be acutely felt. That assistance might take the form of helping a young person from a low-income background to achieve their dream of studying accountancy, or supporting the family of a CA who is suffering from long-term illness.

How to donate

Towards the end of the Annual Renewal form (online and paper versions), Members will see the option to donate a sum of their choice to one or both charities. Members whose firms pay their fees, and those who have set up Direct Debits, also have the option to donate.

You can complete your Annual Renewal for 2023 ICAS membership online here.

However, if you’d like to donate via the charities' own websites, you can do so here:

ICAS Foundation

ICAS Foundation is a Charity registered in Scotland: SC034836

SCABA

The Scottish Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association is a charity registered in Scotland SC008365.

Keeping in contact is also key

During the 2023 Annual Renewal process, Members will also be asked to update their email preferences, including the opportunity to opt-in to receiving emails from SCABA and ICAS Foundation. Opting in will be key to helping both charities achieve their aims, will keep you up to date with news about the ways in which their support and your donations are making a real difference, and will provide a vital connection for those who may find themselves in times of need.
