Introducing CA Weekly, the new email for ICAS members

  • LinkedIn (opens new window)
  • Twitter (opens new window)
By ICAS

13 April 2020

Key points

  • CA Weekly will be more relevant to members’ needs.
  • CA Today – our daily news briefing – is moving to the ICAS PWA.
  • Changes driven by feedback from members.

We’re launching a new weekly email for members and moving our daily news briefing – CA Today – to the ICAS PWA (progressive web app).

Following requests from our members for less frequent and more focused emails, we are launching our new, streamlined, weekly service.

With the first edition hitting inboxes on Tuesday 21 April, CA Weekly will keep you in touch with all the latest ICAS news, deliver exclusive insight, thought leadership and technical updates.

The diary highlights will ensure you don’t miss exclusive events in your area, connecting you to us, the CA community and the business network. And a curated selection of courses and career-development opportunities will help fulfil your CPD requirements.

Why weekly?

Sending a daily CA Today email that combined limited ICAS content with additional items from external sources was hampering our ability to deliver key messages and value-added content.

Also, in surveys last year, our Members requested less frequent and more focused emails which were centred more on the value that ICAS membership adds and what the Institute is doing to support them.

By moving CA Today to our app (see below), distilling our efforts in a single, weekly email, and including only ICAS-created content, we’ll be able to avoid creating inbox clutter and simultaneously make it easier for you to find the information you most need from us.

Using data and design

Initially, CA Weekly will be targeted to recipients on a geographic basis. However, this personalised approach will evolve over time to ensure that the content is fully in step with your specific professional needs, interests and requirements.

CA Weekly will also be Members’ first glimpse of the refreshed, redesigned look we’re rolling out across all ICAS emails.

Get your daily news on the ICAS progressive web app (PWA)

In these times of crisis and constant change, it’s especially important to stay updated. So, whilst our email, CA Today, will be moving, the daily news briefing, with all the top stories from the wider world of business and finance, will still be available on the ICAS member progressive web app.

If you aren’t already using it, the app also provides access to ICAS events and acts as a central resource for all ICAS learning content, which is specially curated according to your personal topic interests, and all of which can be added to a personal learning log.

How to access the ICAS PWA

The ICAS member app is a web-based app and is not available for download on the Apple Store or Google Play. To access the app and save it to your mobile device's home screen, enter app.icas.com into your device's web browser and follow the on-screen instructions.

Your feedback matters

As ever, your feedback matters, so if you have any suggestions for future changes or additions please get in touch with us at members@icas.com.

And remember that, should you not be satisfied with CA Weekly, you can choose to opt out at any time.

CA Weekly FAQs

What changes are we making to emails to members?

We are making some changes to the ways in which we communicate with our members. On Tuesday 21 April we will launch our new email service, CA Weekly, which will replace the daily industry-news briefing, CA Today, and our monthly events and personal-development emails.

We informed members about this change in an email and there is information on icas.com.

Why are we introducing CA Weekly?

We’re doing this after listening to member feedback. In surveys last year, our members requested less frequent and more focused email content which was centred more on the value that ICAS membership adds and what the Institute is doing to support members.

What will the new CA Weekly inform our members about?

The new weekly email is designed to keep members in touch with the latest ICAS news, and to deliver insight, thought leadership and technical updates. There will be more targeted and personalised information about local events and courses that will help our members to fulfil their CPD requirements.

Initially, CA Weekly will be targeted to members on a geographic basis, but as we refine our data and begin to better utilise it, we will also tailor the content according to industry sectors and professional specialisms.

What will CA Weekly look like?

CA Weekly will be our members’ first glimpse of the refreshed look we’re rolling out across all ICAS emails to make them more engaging, user-friendly and content rich. This look is in line with the modern, fresh brand identity we launched last year.

Why will this be better for members?

Bringing together information on support available form ICAS, events, policy, practice and our PD offering into one weekly email allows us to avoid causing clutter in our members’ inboxes and providing a re-purposed news content service with no tangible links to ICAS and the service we are providing to members.

CA Weekly also allows ICAS to provide extra value for our members – something we promise to do for members in our Member Value Proposition – through clearer guidance, thought leadership and help for firms and practice.

As we’ll be sharing only ICAS created content through CA Weekly, it will be easier for members to find the information they need from us.

What’s happening to CA Today?

News content from media sources which we share through CA Today will still be available as a daily news briefing. All the headlines from the wider world of business and finance are being provided on the ICAS progressive web app (PWA).

The PWA also functions as a central resource for all ICAS learning content, which is just another reason why we’re encouraging all members to access it on their mobile devices.

The ICAS member PWA is not available to download from the Apple Store or Google Play and can only be accessed at app.icas.com on a mobile device by following the on-screen instructions.
