Highlights from the 2024 ICAS Admission Ceremony
Catch up on the highlights from the 2024 Admission Ceremony where we welcomed almost 300 new CAs to ICAS membership.
Almost 300 newly qualified Chartered Accountants (CAs) were welcomed to membership at our annual Admission Ceremony on Saturday 13 April.
Newly qualified members, along with their family and friends, gathered at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to celebrate our newly qualified CAs’ success and honour the achievement of qualifying as a CA.
The Admission Ceremony marks the beginning of their career as a CA and welcomes them to the global CA community.
In his welcome speech, Clive Bellingham CA, ICAS President said: “The hard work you put into qualifying will deliver a truly rewarding career. The CA qualification has allowed me to travel the world, meet amazing people and deliver work that has made a difference. You represent the business leaders of tomorrow and the CA qualification is your passport to success.”
Cat Devaney CA, Director of Professional Qualifications at ICAS, welcomed the CAs on stage and they were admitted to membership and handed their scroll by the ICAS President.
Eryn Paterson CA, fellow newly qualified CA and Audit Assistant Manager at KPMG delivered the keynote speech. She shared her journey, the crucial role the ICAS Foundation has played in achieving the qualification and asked her classmates to consider how they can be involved and make a difference to someone else's journey, just as she has experienced.
Speaking about the support she received from the ICAS Foundation, Eryn said: “The ICAS Foundation has helped me in many ways throughout my journey, with financial and mentor support.”
“When my studies became more demanding, the bursary allowed me to reduce my shifts at my part-time job and give as much to my studies as possible.”
The celebrations closed with a drinks reception, sponsored by Rutherford Cross, and gave our new CAs the opportunity to connect with their peers and celebrate with their family and friends.
