30 April 2021

Bruce Pritchard CA, Chief Executive Officer, Liminal BioSciences, has been appointed as the new President of ICAS for 2021/22.

Bruce was confirmed as President for 2021 at the ICAS Annual General Meeting on Friday 30 April 2021.

Bruce takes over from Catherine Burnet CA, Regional Chair for KPMG in Scotland, and will serve a year in office.

Bruce’s career at Liminal BioSciences spans more than 14 years and he has spent over two decades working in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in November 2020 he was, since 2014, one of two Chief Operating Officers at Liminal. Prior to this he was Group CFO, a role he held from 2008.

Bruce is a graduate of Heriot-Watt University where he gained a BA in Accountancy and Computer Science. He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Porton Biopharma Limited.

Bruce has been involved with ICAS since 2001 when he became a member of Council. He has since held a number of positions including Qualifications Board and has chaired Members Board and the London Area Network.  Bruce served as Deputy President 2020/21.

Commenting on his appointment, Bruce said:

“I’m thrilled to be able to build upon my year as an ICAS Office Bearer by taking up the role of ICAS President.

“As we move forward from an unprecedented year, we now have the opportunity to build a sustainable future for the profession by maximising the efficiencies we achieved while working in a virtual world.

“Our thought leadership, professional guidance, expertise and ethical reason helped navigate a course through 2020, and to inform decisions made by governments and businesses around the world.

“ICAS must now ensure that we continue to influence recovery and shape the future, one that embraces new technology, is focused on sustainability, ethics and equality, is more heavily invested in the value of human capital, and with leadership which actively seeks out diverse perspectives.

“I look forward to representing CAs as President of ICAS for the coming year, and working together with Members and the Office Bearer team to achieve a better, more sustainable future, for the benefit of ICAS, the profession and society as a whole.”

Supporting Bruce in his role as President are Indy Hothi CA, who has been appointed Deputy President of ICAS, and Clive Bellingham CA, who has been appointed Vice President of ICAS.

Bruce Cartwright CA, ICAS Chief Executive, said:

“Bruce is a forward-thinking and inclusive leader with a wealth of experience, and we are delighted that he will serve as our new ICAS President for 2021/22.

“I would also like to congratulate Indy Hothi CA and Clive Bellingham CA, who have been appointed as our new Deputy President and Vice President.

“As we move forward from the pandemic our ICAS Office Bearers, Bruce, Indy and Clive, will help ensure that we continue to build on our global reputation and embrace the future and the opportunities ahead of us.”

Indy Hothi CA, who has been appointed Deputy President of ICAS, is currently the co-founder of Upside Projects, a consultancy and venture builder which provides strategic advice on digital transformation, innovation and sustainability to public and private sector clients. Prior to Upside Projects, Indy was a senior economist with EY in London. He worked across a number of high-profile economic impact studies which influenced public policy and included clients such as the Premier League and Rugby World Cup.
Through his passion for social and humanitarian causes, Indy was a trustee of Khalsa Aid International, a charity which provides humanitarian aid in disaster areas and civil conflict zones. His work has led him to the frontline on a number of projects including Iraq, DR Congo, Lebanon, Nepal and Haiti.

Indy was recognised as One Young CA in 2015 and was elected to ICAS Council in 2016, representing the England and Wales area and supporting engagement with under 35s and the broader London community (through the London Area Network). In addition to the appointments he holds as an Office Bearer, Indy attends the Nominations Committee and has been closely involved in the work of the EDI Committee.  Indy served as Vice President 2020/2021.

Clive Bellingham CA, who has been appointed Vice President of ICAS, is a Partner at PwC, where his leadership roles take him to all parts of the world. As a member of PwC’s Global Board for 8 years, Clive contributes to the governance and oversight of a network that covers more than 150 countries. He chaired the Clients & Markets Committee for 4 years and has an outreach role for PwC India. He is also a global relationship partner for a number of multinational clients, principally in the pharma & life sciences sector.

Clive joined PwC in Glasgow in 1984 after qualifying as a CA with Bird Simpson & Co in Dundee. Since then he has worked for PwC in Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland, where Clive has been resident since 1987.

Having benefited from a wide range of influences and experiences during his career, Clive is an advocate of diversity in business. In 2016 he joined the board of Advance, a non-profit association set up by leading Swiss-based companies to increase the representation of women at the executive level.

Clive was elected to Council in 2015 as the Europe seat member and has served on Members Board and the Audit & Risk Committee.
