This page provides answers to the most frequently asked questions ahead of the 2022 Admission Ceremony, which takes place on Saturday 26 March.

We suggest that those attending the event read the information below to help them prepare for the ceremony.

Where is the ceremony?

The ceremony will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC)

Address - 150 Morrison Street, Edinburgh EH3 8EE.

What time does the event start and finish?

9.30am until 2.00pm

Please ensure you have arrived and registered (checked-in) no later than 10.15am. Further registration details can be found below.


Who can attend the ceremony/how many guests can I bring?

Newly qualified CAs (admitted between the end of March 2022 to March 2023) who have registered for the event can attend.

You can bring up to 2 guests, who you will have been asked to notify us of when registering. If you applied for additional guests, you will have already been contacted to confirm whether or not you have been successful.


What is the dress code?

The dress code is formal/smart.

When your name is called during the ceremony, you will be required to walk across the stage. We recommend you wear flat or low-heeled shoes.


Will there be a photographer at the event?

If you would like to have your photograph taken on the day you must pre-book this with Marston Events at https://www.yourgraduation.co.uk/ICAS. Details TBC.


How do I make special arrangements?

If you or your guests have any special access requirements, please contact events@icas.com.


When will I receive my membership certificate on the day?

Your certificate will be sent out to you by mail prior to, or soon after, the ceremony.

You are not required to bring your membership certificate with you to the event.


What happens if I’m no longer able to attend?

If you’re no longer able to come to the event, please email events@icas.com to let us know as soon as possible.

Information for the day of the event

When does registration (check-in) for the ceremony open?

Registration (check-in) will open at 9.30am. Please ensure you have arrived and registered no later than 10.15am.

Once you are registered, refreshments will be served in the entrance area (Strathblane Hall), and a cloakroom will be available.


When does the ceremony begin?

The ceremony will begin at 11am sharp and we ask all guests to be seated in the auditorium (Pentland Suite) by no later than 10.45am.


Do I/my guests have an allocated seat in the auditorium?

Allocated seating will be given to those graduating. When you arrive at the EICC please head to the registration (check-in) desk where you will receive a ticket with your allocated seat number.

All other guests will have free seating and will therefore not require a ticket on the day.


Will the ceremony be live streamed?

The ceremony will be live streamed for anyone unable to attend and will be available to view on the day.


What do I have to do when I am called up to the stage?

Those graduating you will be called up in alphabetical order by surname. Once you name is called you will walk up the stairs and have your photograph taken with the ICAS President. You will then be ushered off stage and return back to your seat.


When does the ceremony end?

The ceremony will end at approximately 12.30pm.


When does the drinks reception start and finish?

There will be a drinks reception after the ceremony which will begin at approximately 12.30pm and finish at 2.00pm.


Will ICAS be featuring the event on social media?

On the day we will have a social media wall, which will display live posts.

Join the celebration by tagging ICAS and using the hashtags #ProudToBeaCA and #ICASClassof2022.

We will share highlights from the ceremony the following week on our social media pages, so make sure to follow us and share your experience.
