Well Together inspiration from ICAS Member Kerrie Murray CA

photo of man and woman jogging

Well Together participant Kerrie Murray CA shares her ideas, insights and inspiration for getting outdoors and staying active.

Introduce yourself:

I’m Kerrie Murray CA. I live in Inverurie and work for Pryme Group. Pryme Group has five locations throughout the UK but I’m currently working from home due to COVID-19. I'm also a Committee member of the ICAS Grampian Area Network.

How do you like to get outdoors, keep fit and stay active?

I have always enjoyed walking but in June 2020 I started running, which I really enjoy.

Tell us about your favourite place to exercise.

I like to run outdoors. I don’t mind where but much prefer when it’s not sub-zero temperatures!

What inspires you to get outdoors, keep fit and stay active?

The great feeling you get once you’ve finished your run.

How do you fit exercise around your work/family schedule?

I run early in the morning which is a great start to the day.

Has the way you exercise changed during COVID-19/lockdown?

Given that I was working from home and no longer had my daily commute, I decided to use that time instead to exercise. I started by walking and then in June started to run.

Do you have any fitness hints and tips to encourage and inspire others?

I started with the Couch to 5K app and two months after starting ran my first half marathon, and two months after that ran my first full marathon. I didn’t plan it that way, I just really enjoyed running so built up quite quickly. My view is that it’s never too late to start something new.

If lockdown wasn’t a thing, where in the world would you like to go for a run, wheel, walk, cycle or swim?

Scotland has a lot of beautiful places, therefore I would like to explore more of Scotland.

Which ICAS Strava Club are you a member of?

Grampian.

What’s your Strava profile ID should CAs in your area want to follow you?

You can view my Strava profile here.
