Ask ICAS and ICAS Insights webinar series

Ask ICAS is generally held on a Thursday morning at 11 am for a one-hour, topical webinar. Details and sign up can be found at ICAS webinars.

Members can count it as CPD and attendees can take advantage of a live Q&A on all Ask ICAS webinars with the webinar presenters or send in their queries in advance to dmenzies@icas.com to be answered live.

Please note that all the feedback we have received from members during webinars, in Q&As and on a day-to-day basis is in turn being fed into Government insofar as it relates to policy and to HMRC insofar as it relates to operational and practical matters.

Please note that views and opinions expressed by speakers at ICAS webinars are their own and not necessarily reflective of ICAS’ views.

ESG investing - political ambition and practical reality. How can professionals and trustees support the Green agenda?

The Embassy of Switzerland in the UK and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), in conjunction with the Edinburgh Tax Network and Terra Firma Chambers, invite you to a high-level panel discussion and networking event at Edinburgh’s Old Parliament Hall.

ESG considerations are now key for investors around the globe. With COP 26 Scotland moved to centre stage for international discussions on sustainability last autumn. Both Swiss and UK financial centres are committed to becoming leading international locations for sustainable finance to support the global green agenda and deliver on the political commitments made.

Join us for a discussion on the complex interplay between legal, regulatory and economic considerations around ESG-investing and sustainable finance. Can existing governance paradigms be squared with social and environmental goals? Might fiduciaries legal obligations to act in the narrow interests of beneficiaries or objectives impair green investing?

The evening will conclude with a networking reception with Swiss wines and canapés

  • When: Thursday, 9 June 2022, 17:15 for 17:30 start until 20:30
  • Where: The Old Parliament Hall, Parliament House, High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1RF
  • RSVP: Please register here until 6 June 2022.
  • Participation at this event is free of charge.
  • Dress: Business Attire
