Three compelling reasons to advance your career – online

Key points:

  • Are you looking to take the next step in your career?
  • New technology allows CAs to enjoy an interactive learning experience.

Stuck in the same pattern when it comes to professional development? Research shows that interactive online blended learning, such as the OCR Live platform, produces better results than in-person training.

1. Work does not exist in one space anymore, so why should learning?

We live in a hyperconnected world where your office can be anywhere through the use of cloud-based services. But it can be problematic to attend a face to face course when your role can require you to be in several places at once. Being able to access learning materials on whichever device you choose is making career advancement easier than ever.

2. Online learning lends itself to an enhanced learning experience

The United States Department of Education performed a meta-analysis of several learning studies in 2010 and discovered that: “[Learners] in online conditions performed modestly better, on average, than those learning the same material through traditional face-to-face instruction.”

3. Virtual learning is no longer a passive experience

Ever watched a recorded course and wondered how good it would be if you could have attended it online and were able to ask the presenter questions?

Although the US Department of Education found that online learners performed better than face-to-face learners, they caveat this with the finding that “instruction combining online and face-to-face elements had a larger advantage relative to purely face-to-face instruction than did purely online instruction.”

What this means is that watching a pre-recorded webinar does not have the same engagement levels as an interactive session where questions and feedback are instantaneous.

Online Classroom technology

With Online Classroom technology, learners can get the best of both worlds – taking part online and being able to have your questions answered in real-time.

ICAS is now offering this technology to our members for the first time, which is provided through our learning partner BPP Professional Development.

It is this type of learning experience that will revolutionise the delivery of some of our online training courses and can also be used as part of an in-house programme bespoke for any organisation that wants to save the costs associated with face to face training, without sacrificing the quality of the learning experience.

We offer an extensive selection of 100% live and interactive online courses, allowing you to engage with your presenter, other delegates and a wealth of online content. Find out more about the online learning and resources offered by ICAS here.

And this is just the beginning, as the next generation of online learning platforms are already being developed by BPP and will be brought to you soon!
