Talent shortages are a major concern for every business sector. The most skilled prospective employees can have their pick of employers, so how do you get the right people to choose you?

Improving your appeal and attracting talented individuals will be the key to success in the coming years. Research from McKinsey demonstrates how the war for winning talent is dramatically affecting productivity and charts the shrinking pool of highly-skilled candidates entering the workplace.

Anyone in a management position or involved with hiring initiatives needs to be prepared to tackle this issue.

Make the right offer

Talented employees want jobs that offer opportunities to develop their skills and advance their careers. They want strong leadership, meaningful work, and a competitive rate of remuneration and reward.

Tailor the benefits of a position to the candidates you are targeting. For example, if you want an innovator, give them the room in their job description to create and experiment freely.

Once you have the right people, the next piece of the puzzle is getting them to stay.

Engage your staff

People are more dedicated to a cause they believe in. You will have a productive, enthusiastic team if you inspire them as a leader.

Learn how to engage your talented workers and make them a force for good within your organisation. This kind of environment will help to attract others in the future.

Provide incentive to stay
