What is the the Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership?

Blending technical expertise with leadership training, the programme draws on a wide range of examples, practice and theory and as such is relevant to any industrial, organisational, or international context. The syllabus addresses emerging topics that are changing the face of the finance function, including finance business partnership, thriving in uncertainty, strategic thinking, sustainable purpose, and techniques adapted from the tech world (such as agile hybrid working and data analytics.)

Who should undertake the Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership?

The Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership builds the set of skills required to excel in the finance function today. Transform your role with new leadership and strategic finance skills to become a driver of your organisation’s strategic direction and performance: this fresh and practical programme will help you to adapt and stay relevant in a business landscape that is volatile and dynamic.

The syllabus addresses emerging topics that are changing the face of the finance function, including the importance of human engagement and emotional intelligence, finance business partnership, thriving in uncertainty, strategic thinking, sustainable purpose, and techniques adapted from the tech world such as data analytics.

Programme Overview

Across the six modules, the Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership combines theory with hands-on practical application of skills to boost the value of your contribution to the business. You will learn how to transform and enrich the content and style of your role, apply your skills to strategy and performance, improve your confidence in human engagement, and harness technology.

This programme is offered to ICAS Members via distance learning at a special discounted rate, and will provide the same study materials that are available to those who study in the classroom.

The Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership is delivered through a mix of:

  • self-paced, on-demand micro lectures
  • participation in interactive live online sessions
  • self-study and preparation of an assessed portfolio of practical work.

Online sessions and programme assessments are all facilitated through a virtual learning environment.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a portfolio of work: two reflective learning logs, two practical application reports, and a final capstone presentation delivered to examiners with questions from the panel.

The portfolio body of work links the concepts with real workplace issues, providing you with a tangible output that you can take back and use to advance your role and career.
