  • Karen Scholes CAPresident, ICASAfter qualifying as a CA in 1988, Karen managed Scholes Chartered Accountancy, the accountancy practice started by her late father and was the sole practitioner in the firm until it was incorporated in 2008. Since incorporation, the firm has seen steady growth, opening offices in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Karen is particularly passionate about supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and enjoys nurturing young people in business through her work with Young Enterprise Orkney.

  • Katie Close CA CTADirector of Tax, ICASKatie leads the ICAS Tax team, providing strategic overview and management. She is Secretary to the ICAS Tax Board, working on the direction of ICAS Tax policy. Katie is also Secretary to the Devolved Taxes Committee focusing on Scottish taxation matters and the fiscal framework. Her background is in industry where she spent 10 years working for large corporates in Scotland as an international tax specialist.

  • David Menzies CADirector of Practice, ICASDavid provides strategic leadership and management of the ICAS Practice Team within Professional Standards, ensuring that practitioners receive guidance, advice, and support where necessary. He also provides advice, guidance and support to ICAS Insolvency Licence holders through specialist technical knowledge with the objective of influencing UK and Scottish insolvency policy, practice and legislation.
