Ann Buttery CA, Head of Ethics, ICAS Policy Leadership, highlights the publication of ICAS’ updated modern slavery guidance.

Modern slavery is an illegal trade in human beings, driven by both supply and demand.

With legislation and regulations tightening around the globe, we have updated our guidance ‘Modern Slavery – What CAs need to know’ to remind members of their responsibilities in relation to this issue.

Finance professionals have an important role to play in tackling modern slavery. There are invariably links with organised crime and members should therefore be aware of their responsibilities under anti-money laundering and related legislation. These responsibilities will vary depending on their role and the sector that they work in.

The guidance considers the practical steps you should take as a finance professional, and highlights what you should be thinking about and what questions you should be asking in your everyday work.
