I'm Arran Fitzpatrick CA. I'm an Audit Associate at CT: Accountant Advisers.
What made you choose the RGU Graduate Apprenticeship?
The opportunity to work full time and learn. For someone like me, going into five years ago, I was 27, I had already been to uni, I had already had the student debt.
I decided I wanted something that had been done already. I wanted to learn quickly and in an environment where I'd be doing things that mattered, not all hypothetical situations.
What did you enjoy most about your ICAS journey?
One thing that I didn't expect that I ended up really loving would be coaching of younger staff through the years.
I started off a junior completely no experience, but very quickly became someone that people looked up to and someone that would help them in their early years through the same traineeship to ask for help as soon as you think you might need it.
What's the most important lesson you've taken from the RGU programme?
I'm often getting bogged down and trying to do things myself and not reaching out. That includes outside of professional life. I think it's encouraged me to seek help when I need it.
That it's about so much more than just numbers. It is about ownership, helping others succeed and being an all round ethical and trusted person and leader.
