The Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) is the Scottish Government initiative dedicated to helping employers and individuals faced with redundancy.

PACE offers employers free, impartial advice and one-to-one support from an experienced PACE adviser. It also provides individuals facing redundancy with support and advice to help them through this difficult period.

Businesses of all sizes and from throughout Scotland can ask for assistance from PACE.

PACE task forces have been set up in areas where significant numbers of employees have been made redundant. Many in rural areas where job opportunities are limited.

CAs with clients considering a redundancy process can make use of this service.

ICAS members advising clients who may be considering redundancies as an early intervention step to avoiding financial difficulties should consider contacting PACE to discuss support for their clients.

All communication is on a strictly confidential basis.

Background

ICAS joined the PACE partnership in 2015 and is one of 22 Partners involved in the initiative. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Scottish Government and ICAS was signed in March 2016.

Other Partners include: Skills Development Scotland; the Department for Work and Pensions; the Insolvency Service; CBI Scotland and the Federation of Small Businesses Scotland. The strength of the partnership is the pooled expertise and shared knowledge of its members.

This initiative is now well established and widely known throughout the business community, despite slow uptake among smaller businesses. Further information can be found on the Skills Development Scotland - My World of Work website or by calling 0800 917 8000.
