Automatic enrolment: Don’t let your clients forget to complete their declaration on time

Your client must provide information to TPR to show how they have met their automatic enrolment duties. This means completing a declaration of compliance within five months of your client’s staging date.  If this is not submitted in time, then they could be fined.

If you’re completing a declaration for your client, find out what information you need to provide to TPR and when you need to do it.

If you have a query about completing the declaration go to automatic enrolment declaration questions.

Automatic enrolment: Bring your client’s staging date forward and declare their compliance early

The government has added flexibility to make it easier for employers who do not have staff that they must put into a pension scheme to bring forward their staging date without the need to have a pension scheme ready.

Employers with no-one to put into a pension scheme can now bring their staging date forward to any date and then declare their compliance at the same time.

Find out more about bringing your client’s staging date forward.

My client is an employer but doesn’t have any staff who must be put into a pension scheme – do they still have automatic enrolment duties?

All employers with one or more staff will have automatic enrolment duties to meet. Employers without any staff who must be put into a pension scheme will still need to tell their staff individually about automatic enrolment, and complete and submit a declaration of compliance to TPR to let them know what they have done to meet their duties.

You can help your clients by signposting them to TPRs website to complete the online Duties Checker which tells them what to do and by when.
