ICAS is pleased to confirm the extension of our valued partnership with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) to deliver sought-after qualifications for CAs.

The partnership will deliver three fantastic diploma-level qualifications for global CAs, including essential understanding of IFRS, Corporate Finance and Strategic Finance & Analytics.

“We are delighted to be extending our partnership with ICAS offering two new Diplomas this autumn,” announced Joe Carroll, Manager of Operations at CAI.

“We have been working with ICAS since 2014, offering the Diploma in IFRS by distance study with an exam venue in Edinburgh and this new development builds on our existing relationship.

“I believe ICAS and CAI work exceptionally well together as we share common values and ambitions, and a vision of where accountancy and finance are going in the years ahead.”

Research conducted by Robert Half Management Resources in early 2016 revealed that businesses “value accountants who are strategic thinkers,” but that almost half of all executives surveyed had stated that their organisation “does not provide related professional development opportunities.”

“The Strategic Finance programme takes an innovative approach bringing together accounting, IT and advanced business skills (influencing, communicating, presenting) to develop the skills required to be a Finance Business Partner." Joe Carroll, CAI

The ever-increasing pace of change in transformative technology requires the right skills to tackle dynamic areas of finance, as well as the know-how to manipulate and interpret data for strategic decisions, so we are delighted to make the Diploma in Strategic Finance & Analytics available.

Our second opportunity comes at a time when scrutiny on corporate finances are at an all-time high, and shrewd judgement is required to minimise risks and act in an ethical manner. The Diploma in Corporate Finance is geared towards developing analytical skills and timely decision-making; cultivating the qualities and knowledge necessary to ensure plain sailing for profit margins as well as reputation.

“The Diploma in Corporate Finance and Diploma in Strategic Finance and Business Analytics are in some of the most important and fastest growing areas of finance today,” explains Joe Carroll.

“The Strategic Finance programme takes an innovative approach bringing together accounting, IT and advanced business skills (influencing, communicating, presenting) to develop the skills required to be a Finance Business Partner.

“Feedback from professional development events has told us that distance learning provides flexible options for our members, and can easily fit into a busy work / life schedule.” Vikki Douglas, ICAS

“This is an exciting emerging role; one which allows huge scope to impact the business and to develop critical leadership skills which will help advance participant’s careers. We are looking forward to welcoming ICAS members on these programmes this autumn.”

It was felt that delivery via distance learning would benefit our members in terms of accessibility and mobility; with reduced costs and flexibility for self-paced learning.

“Feedback from professional development events has told us that distance learning provides flexible options for our members, and can easily fit into a busy work / life schedule,” explains Vikki Douglas, Professional Development Programme Manager with ICAS.

“We have members all over the world and it’s not always possible to attend a class on-site to get the essential skills needed for your everyday work. That’s why ICAS and CAI have collaborated to provide these important diplomas in a modular approach that will benefit each and every CA.”
