Chairperson - Rory Kennedy

Chiene + Tait, Rural Estates Partner

Rory is a Chartered Accountant, qualifying in the tax practice with the Big 4. Rory has a broad background in major leisure and land use projects. He previously worked within the estates management sector, in the capacity of head of finance and operations of a heavily diversified rural estate. Rory focuses on our rural sector and works closely with the Private Client team to provide specialist high net worth services including tax, wealth planning, diversification and business planning and family office advice.

Presenter - Hazel Gough

Chiene + Tate - Personal & Business Tax Director

Hazel specialises in advising individuals, family businesses and trustees in connection with restructuring, succession planning and compliance responsibilities. She is a past chairman of the Chartered Institute of Taxation Scotland Branch and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. She lectures for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland, is the CIOT representative on their tax committee and a member of their ‘Making Tax Digital’ steering group.

Presenter - Andy Drane, LLB (Hons), LLM in Construction Law, Solicitor (Scotland)

Partner, Rural Business

Andy heads Davidson Chalmers' Rural Business Team. 

The team is focused on providing robust commercial advice to rural businesses and family farming partnerships on agricultural, planning and environmental matters as well as providing specialist litigation services.   They are particularly active in property development in rural areas as well as advising banks on lending to rural businesses.

In April 2014, at the Scott & Co Scottish Legal Awards, Andy won Specialist Solicitor of the Year award. He was also shortlisted as Solicitor of the Year in the 2014 Law Awards of Scotland.

He now advises a variety of landowners, developers, investors, communities, contractors, consultants, funders, project operators and end users.   He also advises solicitors and accountants across Scotland on specialist issues relating to property development, renewables and infrastructure projects.
