Graeme Reid: A mentor with a difference

A mentoring partnership

Graeme Reid is one of the most in demand mentors on the ICAS career mentoring programme. Here he talks about some of the highlights of being a mentor.

Graeme Reid After 30 years as an international corporate tax partner with KPMG and PwC, Graeme Reid CA has set up his own executive coaching practice in Sydney, Australia.

He now mentors 16 CAs around the world on a range of topics, including global relocation, career progression, dealing with the challenges of business development and taking on leadership roles.

I think the ICAS mentoring programme is an excellent opportunity for both mentors and mentees, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to develop themselves and their career.

The benefits of being an ICAS mentor

Asked about the benefits of participating in the ICAS career mentoring programme, Graeme says: "The sign-up process is very straightforward and being part of the ICAS programme allows me to give something back to my profession, which has provided me with a great career and fabulous experiences."

"Given my advisory background, it can be a struggle sometimes not to give advice, but to guide through questioning to allow the mentee to discover the right solution for them."

He adds: "The best part of the programme is working with young accountants who are full of ambition, but not quite clear on the path they should follow. It is rewarding when a mentee gains a new insight into their character or behaviour that helps them move forward. I think the ICAS mentoring programme is an excellent opportunity for both mentors and mentees, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to develop themselves and their career."

The best part of the programme is working with young accountants who are full of ambition, but not quite clear on the path they should follow.
