CA practitioner service membership
The CA Practitioner Service provides a support service to practising firms.
The aim of CAPS
With over 175 member firms within the United Kingdom, CAPS provides a means of ensuring that its members' interests are considered by the profession and other regulators.
The aim of CAPS is to assist its members to provide a quality service to their clients in a cost effective manner. This is achieved through the provision of practical guidance and access to information that affect their quality, professionalism and profitability.

- 1 partner - £320 + VAT
- 2-3 partners - £485 + VAT
- 4-6 partners - £710 + VAT
- 7+ partners - £1,010 + VAT
*A first year discount of 20% is offered to established firms joining the service and newly formed practices are offered a 40% discount in their first year, and a 20% discount in their second year.
Types of membership
To be a full member of the CA Practitioner Service the following criteria must apply:
The firm is entitled to call itself 'Chartered Accountants'. This would include entities such as Limited Liability Partnerships and Limited Companies so long as the definition included in the ICAS rules is adhered to (the firm must have a minimum of 50% of Principals as ICAS members).
At least one principal should be a member of ICAS.
An associate member qualifies for all the benefits of full members with the exception that use of the CA logos is not permitted. An associate member firm may be:
Any firm not entitled to call itself 'Chartered Accountants' but which has one principal who is an ICAS member;
Any firm whose partner or directors are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales or of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland who may use the designation 'Chartered Accountants'.
Cessation of Membership
Membership (either full or associate) will lapse in the following circumstances:
Failure to renew the annual subscription by the due date. Extensions made will be at the discretion of the CA Practitioner Service;
In the case of a sole practitioner, where the sole practitioner has been excluded or suspended from membership or has otherwise ceased to hold a practising certificate;
In the case of an associate firm where the only ICAS member has been excluded or suspended from membership or has otherwise ceased to hold a practising certificate.
Accuracy and distribution
The data regarding firms is available to all CA Practitioner Service firms through the CAPS handbook and website as supplied by the individual member firms.
ICAS takes no responsibility for the accuracy of this data which is supplied to us by individual member firms. The onus is on firms to ensure that their own information remains current.
The CA Practitioner Service will use the information you have provided us for administration and marketing purposes only. This information is not available to other organisations and any offers of goods and services will be made direct to your firm by the Service. The only exception is where your firm has agreed with us by telephone or in writing that a direct approach may be made.
CA Practitioner Service members receive discounts/special offers on a number of goods and services. In order to ensure that firms receive the appropriate discount, this necessitates providing suppliers of goods and services with a list of current CAPS members. This list is restricted to firm name.
Paying your subscription
In addition to paying for CA Practitioner Service by cheque or credit card, it is possible to pay by a membership fee facility.

CAPS has entered into an agreement with Premium Credit under which annual subscriptions can be spread over a period of 6 or 10 months at a most competitive instalment charge. The monthly payments would be as follows:

If you wish to take advantage of this scheme, you will be required only to complete a simple application form which will include a Direct Debit mandate authorising your bank to pay the appropriate monthly amount to Premium Credit Limited. We are however asked to assure you that:
You will not be subject to any credit vetting procedure ie all members are eligible for the scheme.
You will not receive any unsolicited literature or unwanted approaches to purchase other products.

Premium Credit Ltd also offer the option of spreading the cost of your Tax and/or VAT bills to certain clients of FeePlan.
