ICAS Foundation: What We Offer

The ICAS Foundation supports academically talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to study accountancy and finance at university through providing financial and mentoring support.

We award bursaries of up to £2,500 per year to individuals whose family income is less than a certain threshold. applications are accepted from school pupils and college students who hold an offer to study accountancy and finance at university. The eligibility criteria can be found on our website.

Students who are successful in securing a bursary are also matched with an ICAS Foundation Mentor. Our mentors are Chartered Accountants (CA) who will offer support and guidance throughout their studies to help them make the most of the university experience and plan their future career.

As well as mentoring, students are supported to secure paid internships and are offered opportunities to develop their professional network through engaging with ICAS and it's members. Feedback shows us that students really value this additional support.

I don’t know what I’d have done without the support of the Foundation, the bursary itself is an amazing help but the most valuable aspect of it to me has to be having a mentor. That extra support from a professional has been extremely beneficial!

- Laura, ICAS Foundation Student

In addition to bursaries, the ICAS Foundation has a small number of grants available to those studying accountancy or finance to help meet various financial pressures throughout students’ academic careers. Students do not have to be in a receipt of a bursary to apply for a grant but the same eligibility criteria applies.

Applications for bursaries are accepted from March to May for the following academic year. Grant applications are accepted throughout the year.
