ICAS Qualifications Board – Register of Interests
Members of the Qualifications Board must declare any interests that may influence, or may be perceived to influence, their ability to act impartially or objectively in fulfilling their role as a member of the Qualifications Board.
Conflicts of interests
There are a limited number of different forms of interest which could create a conflict in a matter being discussed by the Qualifications Board. Individual Members and CA Student Members are not discussed by the Board; nor are commercial or financial matters. Some examples of possible conflicts of interest are:
- A close association with one of the parties or entities involved.
- Any financial interest or impact (however small).
- Any prejudice or benefit which may follow the Qualifications Board’s discussion.
Qualifications Board members are reminded that potential and perceived conflicts of interest are as important as actual conflicts. It is crucial that the Qualifications Board is beyond reproach in the eyes of Members, CA Student Members, Affiliates and Firms, as well as the general public.
Interests should be declared in advance of the relevant matter being discussed by the Qualifications Board – either immediately upon becoming aware of the matter, or at the beginning of the meeting.
Depending on the nature of the interest, the Chair may require the member to leave the meeting for the duration of the discussion.

Members of the Qualifications Board declare their interests on an annual basis (as at 1 January).
