Class Timetables 2020
Please note: Students will be updated with their personal timetable at least one week before classes commence.
Test of Competence
Test of Competence classes in Scotland consist of two blocks of face to face teaching and online learning in between these blocks.
The online learning is completed using myCABLE. The courses running to December cover 5 of the 6 TC subjects: Financial Accounting, Principles of Audit and Reporting, Principles of Tax, Finance and Business Acumen. Business Law is an online course that is covered separately.
Students that have exemptions in all subjects except PoT attend separate PoT Standalone classes. The timetables vary slightly in terms of which subjects are covered on which days. Students are provided with personalised timetables in advance of classes.
TC Scotland – myCABLE timetable
On the TC Scotland course there are a number of myCABLE days. If students do not have any exemptions and are sitting all 5 subjects in December, they should complete 15 myCABLE days, which cover FA, PAR, PoT, BA and FIN. We recommend that these 15 days are given as study leave.
Note that BL is not included in these 15 days.
The 15 days must be completed between block 1 and 2 of classes.
Direct entry students (school leavers) should only follow the timetable for the subjects that they are studying. The timing of the 15 days is flexible and you should tell your students when they should complete these days
The detail of the number of myCABLE days per subject is:
- Principles of Auditing and Reporting (PAR) – 3.5 days
- Finance (Fin) – 2.5 days
- Business Acumen (BA) – 4 days
- Principles of Taxation (PoT) – 2 days
- Financial Accounting (FA) – 2 days
- Progress Test 2 day (all tests online) – 1 day
A detailed timetable for the 15 myCABLE days is provided below.
TC PoT Standalone – myCABLE timetable
On the TC PoT Standalone course, there are a couple of myCABLE days.
We recommend that these days are given as study leave. These two days need to be completed between block 1 and 2 of classes and you should tell students when to complete the two myCABLE days.
Note that in addition to the two days, there is a 2-hour PoT Progress Test 2 (completed online) that students need to sit and we recommend that this is sat by Wednesday 30 October 2019, in order to give students time to revise before block 2 classes. Students will be provided with unique keycodes in order to complete the online tests.
Please note that we have provided students with access to all TC myCABLE resources for completeness.
A detailed timetable is provided below.
TC BL – myCABLE timetable
Business Law (BL) is a TC subject that is not taught in class. The full course is delivered online. We recommend that students are given 5 days of study leave to complete this course.
Scotland students that are already sitting 5 subjects in the December exam diet are advised to delay BL until 2020. Due to syllabus changes, BL must be completed and passed by August 2020.
Scotland students that have exemptions and are sitting fewer subjects in December, may sit BL before the end of the year. The BL exam is sat online and an exam slot will need to be booked – BL is not running in the w/c 2 December 2019.
An indicative detailed study timetable for BL is provided below.
Test of Professional Skills
Note: A reminder that where a student attends ‘course 1’ for FR/Tax then we need to enrol that student on ‘course 1’ for AFin/ABS.
