Research from the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) suggests that an effective corporate structure and internal culture is dependent on a Competing Values Framework. Their model incorporates 39 unique indicators of culture that address the level of priority given to:
- Internal focus and integration;
- External focus and differentiation;
- Stability and control;
- Flexibility and discretion.
From these factors, we can conclude four main types of company culture:
