Women in middle management wanting to progress to the next stage of their career are being encouraged to sign up for a new leadership course in Scotland.

The Executive Women’s Leadership Development Programme is a new joint venture between the University of Edinburgh Business School and executive search firm FWB Park Brown.

The course aims to help women prepare for senior management and board level roles by providing practical tools, support and inspiration from female CEOs and business leaders from some of the UK’s leading companies.

Judy Wagner CA, co-founder of FWB Park Brown, decided to create the leadership course after the release of the recent Womenomics Scotland report, which examined issues including the gender pay gap and the representation of women on boards.

Judy said: “While there are a number of organisations dedicated to helping women already at board level, there is a real need to help women at middle management level develop for senior management positions. This would in turn help address many of those issues at lower levels  – as well as addressing those at senior management and board level.

“By helping women at middle management level, companies can unlock the full potential of women in their organisations – and thereby strengthen their workforces and achieve stronger business growth.”
