CPI and RPI figures due

After the buzz surrounding last week’s Budget announcement by Chancellor George Osborne, the dust may be beginning to settle. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) will release the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Retail Prices Index (RPI) on Tuesday (22 March), followed by a guide on how the Budget will affect these figures on Thursday (24 March). The February CPI figure is forecast to be 0.4% - a rise of 0.1% since January.

Party leaders debate in Glasgow

The first of two televised debates by the BBC between the leaders of Scotland’s main political parties will take place in Glasgow on Thursday. ICAS will also be hosting an election debate in April with an opportunity to hear first-hand from the candidates fighting the battle of the ballot box for the 2016 Scottish Parliamentary Elections.

CBI to release survey into retail sales

This month’s CBI survey is expected to show a continued slowdown in UK retail sales. The results, which will be published on Thursday, are likely to show similar data to that of last month’s survey. This could point towards a feeling of unease about the global economy among consumers.
