The Commission on Local Tax Reform is seeking views from across Scotland on alternatives to  taxation for the funding of services provided by local government.

ICAS is contributing to the work being done by the cross-party body and would welcome views from members by email.

In examining alternatives, the commission will look at impacts in key areas including: the effects on individuals; the wider economy; any changes to administrative and collection arrangements; timescales for transition, and the financial accountability and autonomy of local government.

The commission will also look at the revenue raising capacity of proposed alternatives at local and national level.

The commission will present its findings in late 2015.
