Top roles at IMI for Isobel Sharp CA

Former ICAS President Professor Isobel Sharp CA has been appointed Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit Committee of IMI plc – the specialist engineering group.

Professor Sharp, who served as ICAS President in 2007/2008, has had a distinguished career in accounting and corporate governance.

She was a Senior Technical Partner at Deloitte LLP until 2012 and has served on the UK Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Reporting Review Panel.

Isobel is also a Visiting Professor in corporate governance and auditing at the University of Edinburgh, and a member of the Business School's International Advisory Board.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, Chairman of IMI, said: "We are delighted that Isobel is joining our Board. She has a strong financial background and deep knowledge of accounting practices and corporate governance policies and procedures. In addition, having advised a number of FTSE boards during her career, she has wide ranging business experience."

Isobel is currently a Non-Executive Director and Audit Chair at Winton Capital Group Ltd, a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at UK Green Investment Bank plc and a Non-Executive member of the Audit Advisory Board at The Scottish Parliament Corporate Body.

IMI plc manufactures and services highly engineered products and works with industrial customers across the energy, transportation and infrastructure sectors. The company employs over 12,000 people and has manufacturing facilities in more than 20 countries.

Professor Isobel Sharp will take up her new roles at IMI on 1 September 2015.
