1. EY and LinkedIn announced partnership
EY is to form a new strategic alliance with social networking giant LinkedIn.The two businesses will work together in a bid to bring social selling technology and data analytics to market on a “global scale”.
2. HMRC aiming to improve tax compliance by large businesses
HMRC has announced proposals to improve tax compliance across the UK’s large businesses and to tackle aggressive tax planning by a minority. The ICAS International Tax Sub-Committee and Busines Policy Committee submitted a joint consultation response to HMRC.
3. PwC releases online-only 2015 Annual Report
PwC has released an online-only Annual Report for the first time. The firm says corporate and financial reporting must evolve to be more useful to investors, employees and suppliers.
4. UK exports fall to 'six year low'
The UK’s exports have fallen to a six year low and there are growing fears that efforts to boost exports are “going in reverse”, according to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). The skills shortage, infrastructure and access to finance are all harming export growth.
5. VAT: Cross border changes from 1 January 2016

7. The top 10 UK cities to live and work revealed
Reading & Bracknell, Oxford and Edinburgh have topped a list of the best places to live and work in the UK, while London featured in the bottom 10 cities, according to research by PwC.
8. R&D tax reliefs: HMRC’s new Advance Assurance Scheme
The UK wants to encourage more R&D by smaller companies, but many of them do not claim the tax reliefs available. HMRC is introducing a new Advance Assurance scheme this month, aimed at helping the smallest companies by providing them with greater certainty in making R&D claims.
9. Pre-pack Insolvency reforms announced
Proposed pre-pack administration transactions can now be reviewed by an independent ‘pool’ of business experts in a move to enhance confidence in transactions. The independent pre-pack review aims to provide an opinion within 48 hours of an application.
10. ICAS Foundation finance event provides insights for pupils
