The CA Scotland Dinner 2016 in pictures
Angus the Zebra was just one of the VIP guests at the annual CA Scotland Dinner in Edinburgh last week.
With 450 attending a packed – and sold out – event, the dinner, held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa on 25 November, in association with Angus’ owners, Investec Wealth & Investment, was one of the highlights of the professional calendar.
“We live in extraordinary times” as ICAS President Ken McHattie put it in his speech at the dinner.
The unpredictability of life and politics in 2016 did at least provide plenty of material for the guest speaker, impressionist and satirist Rory Bremner, who delivered his own irreverent and sharp take on current events and the colourful characters that have dominated the headlines over the past year.
The star of the show, however, was Ryan, one of the students being helped through university by the ICAS Foundation, which supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the willingness and the potential to succeed in a financial career.
Ryan, who is in the third year of his Accounting and Finance degree, said: “The ICAS Foundation has opened doors for me that I could not have opened by myself.”
ICAS Chief Executive Anton Colella said, of the ICAS Foundation students: “They are our family, we care for them and we love them deeply.”
The raffle at the CA Dinner raised more than £8,000 for the ICAS Foundation, with prizes of a spa experience at the Sheraton and golf for four at Gleneagles. A further £1,000 was contributed by the winning bid in the auction for a cricket bat – signed by the England team and kindly donated by Investec Wealth & Investment.
Extraordinary times indeed!
