The CA magazine: June 2016
The June 2016 issue of The CA magazine is out now and our cover story focuses on Rachel Corsie CA, who has realised her dream by playing professional soccer at the top level in the US.
Making a name for yourself in the competitive world of professional football demands dedication as well as talent. Doing that while also passing the CA exams first time displays exceptional determination. Rachel Corsie, who trained for her CA qualification with EY and now plays for leading US soccer team Seattle Reign as well as internationally for Scotland, did just that. In our latest issue she tells The CA magazine how she did it.
Staying “Stateside”, in the June issue we meet some of the other CAs based, temporarily or long-term, in the US, from San Francisco to New York.
Also in this issue, we look at the economic arguments around the upcoming referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union, and at what either a “Brexit” or a “Remain” vote might mean for business – and for your clients’ investments. You can also see the headline findings from the ICAS/The Times poll of senior figures in business and finance on the big questions around the referendum.
Other topics this month include:
- How do you know whether invoice finance/ asset finance is right for your business?
- How can you help to ensure that the assets of a family business are fairly passed onto the next generation?
- Is the level of remuneration for chief executives out of control?
Finally, the Last Word this month goes to Peter Dean of Carrington Dean, who argues that the playing field for qualified and unqualified insolvency practitioners is less than level.
