The CA magazine June 2015
The latest issue of The CA has a distinctly international flavour, with the top US audit regulator profiled, a message from EY's global chief and our first annual salary survey to include input from ICAS' international members.
Our 2015 Salary Survey finds that international members are more likely than UK-based members to have received an above-average pay rise, and marginally more likely to report that they are "very satisfied" with their remuneration.
The survey also finds continuing signs that the market for accountancy and finance skills is emerging from the downturn, with pay and bonus freezes increasingly a thing of the past.
CAs are also increasingly footloose, with more than one in five of our respondents saying they expect to change jobs in the next 12 months.
Also in this issue we meet James R Doty, the Texan lawyer tasked with overseeing – and improving the quality of – the audit profession in the US.
The Global View this month comes from Mark Weinberger, chairman and CEO of EY worldwide; and, closer to home, we analyse the impact so far of 'pension freedom' in the UK. The June magazine also looks at examples of how cloud applications are being used to gain real business benefits.
And with 'pensions freedom' and and auto-enrolment now high up the business agenda, our panel of pensions experts discusses the implications, while our Pensions feature this month asks: is this liberation for savers or the next mis-selling scandal in the making?
