The results are in for the best companies to work for in the UK in 2017 - and Grant Thornton and all of the Big Four firms feature in the top 50.

Glassdoor, the jobs and recruiting site, has announced the winners of its annual Employees’ Choice Awards, with travel booking site Expedia topping the list for the second year in a row making it the first large company ever to retain the top slot.

Gary Morrison, senior vice president, retail, Expedia said: “It’s a great honour to be recognised by Glassdoor UK for the second consecutive year, particularly as the results are calculated solely from employee feedback. One of the main reasons our employees love working here is they are given a voice to directly shape our path and are invested in our success. We empower everyone at all levels to share their ideas and test and learn new ways to make the travel experience better, which, in turn, fosters a creative work environment.”

Software design company ARM Holdings came in second place making its third consecutive appearance in the top 10, with home assistance provider HomeServe rounding off the top three positions.

Grant Thornton was the highest rated accountancy firm, ranked at number 12 on the list.

The overall list, which features 50 companies in total, is dominated this year by tech, retail and finance companies this year.

The Big Four all made the top 50, with PwC placing at number 24, Deloitte at number 31, EY close behind at number 32 and KPMG at number 34.

The list is based solely on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback on the Glassdoor website, by completing a company review about their job, work environment and employer over the past year.

Diarmuid Russell, Glassdoor head of international, said that the culture of a company and how employees are treated are vital in proving a happy working environment.

He said: “Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance edge.

“We’re proud to celebrate the 2017 Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards winners in earning this incredible achievement.”
