ICAS has today responded to Prime Minister David Cameron's announcement of plans for new devolved powers for Scotland by calling for 'unprecedented levels of collaboration'.

ICAS Chief Executive, Anton Colella, said: "This draft legislation provides an historic opportunity for positive and lasting reforms. We now need unprecedented levels of collaboration between future governments, parliaments, Whitehall and Holyrood departments to deliver these changes.

"The Scotland Office is to be commended for getting the Smith recommendations from the drawing board to draft legislation in such a brief timescale. ICAS calls for consideration to be given to the overall picture. Devolution across the UK needs to be cohesive as the Wales Act is put in place and plans to devolve corporation tax to Northern Ireland also demonstrate. It needs significant expertise and resources to adequately analyse the reversing of decades of centralisation. This requires full support from governments, professional bodies and all levels of civic life to deliver a lasting package across the UK."
