Sir Brian Souter CA becomes new President of ICAS

Sir Brian Souter CA has been appointed as the new President of ICAS

The founder and Chair of transport company Stagecoach Group was confirmed as President for 2017 at the ICAS Annual General Meeting on Friday 28 April.

He takes over from Ken McHattie CA and will serve a year in office.

Sir Brian qualified as a CA in 1984 after training with Arthur Andersen in Glasgow, having already founded Stagecoach with his sister Ann Gloag and brother-in-law Robin Gloag in 1980.

In a recent interview for CA Magazine, Sir Brian said: “ICAS gave me great training and I want to put something back…it was very much part of my story.

“I couldn’t have done what I did without that training and the benefits I got from it,” adding that the key themes of his presidential year are “enterprise, compassion and inspiration”.
