2018 One Young CA joins other thought leaders in The Hague
ICAS One Young CA Michael Scott will join young leaders and thought-provokers tonight at the opening ceremony of the 2018 One Young World Summit in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Founded in 2009 by David Jones and Kate Robertson, One Young World is a UK-based charity that gathers together the brightest young leaders from around the world for an annual conference that provides the opportunity to make lasting connections and drive positive change.
Michael was recently selected as the ICAS representative by the 2018 One Young CA competition, held in association with Investec Click & Invest.
The Summit, now in its 10th year, will run 17-20 October in The Hague and is expected to host over 1,800 young delegates from over 196 countries. Speakers at this year’s event include Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, Senior Partner & Chief Executive of Deloitte UK David Sproul, BP CEO Bob Dudley, former UK Prime Ministers Sir John Major and Gordon Brown, and musician and activist Bob Geldof.
To bring global issues, ideas and initiatives back to other CAs is a purpose I believe in.
Looking ahead to the Summit, Michael commented: "There are a number of issues I have always been passionate about however it can be frustrating to know you may never solve these problems yourself. Instead, I joined a few charities, continually fund-raise and try to help others where I can. The idea being that others will do the same and it is that collective effort that can make a difference.
"To attend One Young World as an ambassador for ICAS is an incredible responsibility; to bring global issues, ideas and initiatives back to other CAs is a purpose I believe in."
