Scott-Moncrieff names Allison Gibson CA as partner
Allison Gibson CA has been promoted to partner at Scott-Moncrieff, based in the firm’s Glasgow office. Allison has been with Scott-Moncrieff for 17 years and specialises in advising clients in the manufacturing, distribution, property, construction and charity sectors.

Garth Fleming CA joins GreyCastle Holdings
Garth Fleming CA has recently joined Bermuda based life reinsurance business, GreyCastle Holdings Ltd, as Vice President, Corporate Development.
Garth reports directly to GreyCastle’s CEO and has management responsibilities for the in-force business, new business transactions and acquisitions, investor relations and planning processes for the strategic development of the company and its subsidiaries.
Prior to joining GreyCastle, Garth worked for XL Group plc in Bermuda for over nine years in progressively senior roles. He most recently served as Vice President, Controller of Financial Operations and Reporting.
Rabobank CFO role for Bas Brouwers
Dutch multinational banking and financial services company Rabobank has appointed Bas Brouwers as Chief Financial Officer and Carin Gorter as Chief Risk Officer.
Bas has held several senior roles at ING Group. Carin joined Rabobank in 1994 as senior vice-president, derivatives operations.
Wout Dekker, chairman of Rabobank's Supervisory Board said: "With Carin Gorter and Bas Brouwers we will have two directors with the calibre required to fulfil our ambition as a cooperative client-facing bank. Both have years of experience in the top of the banking sector. With his extensive and valuable experience, Bas Brouwers is an outstanding director for the role of CFO."
Katherine Bullock appointed EY partner
Katherine Bullock has been appointed partner at EY and will lead its UK and Ireland private client services practice. Katherine was named one of the UK’s 50 most influential private client practitioners in 2013 and 2014, and is a qualified barrister, chartered tax adviser and certified financial planner. She was previously a partner at PwC and has over 25 years’ experience.
Dominik de Daniel becomes Regus CFO and COO
Workspace provider Regus has named Dominik de Daniel as its new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. He joins from recruitment specialist Adecco Group where he was CFO, and was previously CFO at DIS. Dominik takes over from Dominique Yates, who is leaving after five years.

John Stewart CA is new CFO of Manitowoc Foodservice
Manitowoc FoodService Inc has appointed John O. Stewart CA as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer.
John was most recently the CFO and Chief Administrative Officer of Hostess Brands, creator of the famous Twinkie Bar.
While at Hostess Brands, John led the development of a turnaround plan aimed at transforming the business during its financial restructuring.
He was the past executive vice president and CFO of Dr Pepper Snapple Group and has previously held finance roles in the food and beverage divisions of Diageo PLC.
Hubertus Muehlhaeuser, chief executive officer, Manitowoc Foodservice, Inc. said: “John is a seasoned leader with more than 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industries. He brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to this role.”
Paul Wood CA joins Bank of New York Mellon
Paul Wood CA has joined the Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) as UK Asset Management Controller, based in the City.
After qualifying as a CA, Paul worked with Deloitte’s Financial Services practice in Edinburgh before moving to London to join Swiss Re, working with their structured transactions, asset management and capital markets businesses.
He was most recently Group Financial Controller and CF10a with Miton Group plc, an AIM listed equity fund manager.
Butterfield Bank Guernsey appoints Alan Bain CA as CFO
Alan Bain CA has been appointed the Chief Financial Officer for Butterfield Bank Guernsey. He joined Butterfield as Head of Finance for Guernsey in 2007, where he was responsible for the financial management and regulatory reporting for the bank’s Guernsey operations.
Alan has previously held senior finance roles at Lloyds TSB and Standard Life.
Bob Moore, Executive Vice President and Head of Group Trust at Butterfield, said: “Alan has been the senior finance executive working with Group Trust since 2011, and he has been instrumental in the growth and development of our international trust and fiduciary services offer over the last four years.”
Melanie Reed becomes RSM’s new Head of Corporate Tax
RSM UK has appointed Melanie Reed as its new Head of Corporate Tax.
Melanie is a tax partner with over 15 years’ experience and specialises in tax reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP. She has acted as part of the reporting accountant team for listings on the full market and AIM.
Jim Meakin, RSM’s UK Head of Tax said: “I would like to welcome Melanie into her new role as our UK head of corporate tax where she will have a crucially important role as part of our tax leadership team."
Nationwide names Joe Garner as new CEO
Joe Garner has been named as the new chief executive of Nationwide, taking over from Graham Beale in spring 2016. Joe is current CEO of BT’s infrastructure business Openreach.
Prior to his role at Openreach, Joe was Deputy Chief Executive of HSBC Bank and Head of HSBC in the UK.
He has also previously held senior positions at Dixons Stores Group and spent the early part of his career at Procter and Gamble. Joe was the Chair of the FSA Practitioner Panel from 2011-2013 and a Non-Executive Director of the Financial Ombudsman Service from 2007-2010.
Joe Garner said: “Nationwide has a remarkable heritage, and the fact that as a mutual it is owned by its customers means that it is uniquely placed to lead and succeed in the next chapter of retail financial services in the UK. I look forward to listening and learning from members and employees alike, and I hope and plan to build upon the success of Graham Beale.”

Sheila Gunn becomes first vice-chair of Wheatley Group
ICAS Ethics Committee member Sheila Gunn has become the first vice-chair of the Wheatley Group – the housing, care and property management organisation.
Sheila is a qualified solicitor and has been a member of the Wheatley board since 2012. Her other current non-executive appointments include Phoenix Life Independent Governance Committee, the Accounts Commission, Airdrie Savings Bank, YourPlace Property Management and the Council of the Chartered Bank Institute.
Sheila said: “It is an honour to be appointed as Wheatley’s first vice-chair. I look forward to working closely with my fellow board members in and across the group as we push ahead with our ambition to make homes and lives better.”
Tom Kelman CA joins Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)
Tom Kelman CA has been appointed the new Director of Corporate Services of the Advertising Standards Authority, succeeding Trevor Ellis.
Tom joins from the International Institute of Strategic Studies where he was Director of Administration. He has held senior management roles in a number of organisations, including the Charity Finance Group as Interim Director of Resources, and The Association of Accounting Technicians, where he was Director of Finance and Corporate Services.
Tom said: “The success of the ASA’s five year strategy, in particular having more impact and being more proactive relies, in part, on ensuring staff are provided with the leadership, as well as equipped with the tools and resources, needed to carry out new ways of working. I’m looking forward to leading the team and delivering on key projects so that the organisation achieves its ambition of making every UK ad a responsible ad.”
French Duncan names Harry Linklater CA as partner
French Duncan has promoted Corporate Advisory Director Harry Linklater CA to partner. Harry joined French Duncan in 2011 after holding various advisory roles within Big Four and mid-tier firms, and having worked within the banking sector.
Graeme Finnie, French Duncan managing partner, said: “Harry is a great business developer who builds strong relationships with clients quickly and is perfectly suited to the role of partner for our Entrepreneurial Services division whist continuing to front our busy corporate advisory offering in Edinburgh.”
Sir Gerry Grimstone to replace Sir Michael Rake at Barclays
Sir Gerry Grimstone, Chairman of Standard Life and non-executive director at Deloitte, is to become Senior Independent Director and Deputy Chairman at Barclays PLC. Sir Gerry will replace Sir Michael Rake from 1 January, 2016.
Sir Gerry is the lead non-executive at the Ministry of Defence and an advisor to the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. He previously spent 13 years with Schroders and has served on the boards of Bridgewell Group Limited, F&C Global Smaller Companies, Wilmington Capital Limited, Candover Investments PLC and TheCityUK.
Barclays PLC Chairman John McFarlane said: "I am delighted that Sir Gerry Grimstone has accepted the Board's invitation to join Barclays and to become Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director. Sir Gerry commands great respect within the financial services industry and will bring immense experience, integrity and knowledge to the role.”
Kamlesh Vikamsey joins UNICEF
Kamlesh Vikamsey, the former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAOA), has joined the Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Kamlesh is currently senior partner at HLB International’s Indian member firm Khimji Kunverji & Co and a member of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) External Audit Committee. He served as a board member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) from 2005-2008..

Jann Brown CA awarded Honorary Doctorate
Past ICAS President Jann Brown CA has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration by Edinburgh Napier University. She is the co-founder and chair of Magna Energy and is the former Managing Director and CFO of Cairn Energy. Jann is on the Board of Wood Group as a Non-Executive Director and chairs the Audit Committee of Troy Income and Growth Fund. She is also on the Board of Trustees of University of Edinburgh.
Jann said: “It is a real honour to receive this award from a university which places the teaching of good governance at the very core of its business curriculum. The need for these skills in our leaders of the future is more pressing now than ever before.”
Andrew Macdonald CA joins Infosys BPO
Andrew Macdonald CA has recently joined business process transformation firm Infosys BPO as Senior Industry Principal. He will be leading business transformation services for Europe, based in London’s Canary Wharf.
Andrew previously worked for Aecus Limited (formerly Alsbridge) and Deloitte in its enterprise applications practice.
After qualifying as a CA, he worked as European Controller and Shared Services Director for US technology company Symbol Technologies.
STV Board role for Ian Steele CA
Ian Steele CA has joined the board of STV Group plc as a non-executive director. Ian, who has over 30 years' experience in corporate finance and the corporate advisory sector, was a Senior Partner and UK board member of Deloitte. Ian is on the ICAS Council and is a former non-executive director of Ingeus UK.
Margaret Ford, Chairman of STV Group plc, said: "I am delighted that Ian will join the board of STV. He will bring considerable experience and insight as we continue to support the pursuit of a successful growth strategy and the creation of value for our shareholders. Kenny McDowell CA has joined Saffery Champness as a partner. He was formerly a partner with Chiene + Tait.
Kenny has over 20 years’ experience in providing assurance and advisory services to charities and companies, including specialist experience in FRS102, charitable SORP and micro reporting developments.
David Postings becomes CEO of Bibby Financial Services
David Postings has been appointed as Global Chief Executive Officer of Bibby Financial Services. He takes over from Simon Featherstone. David joined BFS as UK CEO in April 2012 and previously held senior roles at Lloyds TSB, Barclays and TTT Moneycorp.
David said: “We want to continue to set the standard for service and value for SMEs globally. I’m delighted to be given this opportunity and look forward to working with the strong leadership team at BFS to continue the positive momentum achieved in recent years.”
