American-based companies shine through on a new list of the most reputable companies.

Amazon topped the ‘U.S. RepTrak 100’ list, which was compiled by reputation consultancy firm, the Reputation Institute.

Seven of the top 10 companies on the list are American, with Asian based tech companies Samsung and Sony making up the rest of the list alongside European watchmaker Rolex.

How the general public view companies, and the level of trust they place in them, is “more important than ever”, says Vice President and Managing Director of U.S. and Canada at Reputation Institute.

“The emotional connection that consumers have with a company drives supportive behaviours – ranging from purchasing the company’s products to wanting to work for it.”

The report states that the “study shows that the American general public believes that US-based companies have stronger reputations than companies of international origin.”

The report also found that the reputations of these top tier companies are continuing to strengthen, with each of the top 15 scoring an “excellent” in this year’s survey, compared to nine in 2015.

Stephen went on to say: “As the United States continues to recover from the 2008 recession, trust in companies has been consistently on the rise.

“This study is further proof that American companies are continuing to excel in the global market by developing strong, stable relationships with their customers.”
