Michael Scott named ICAS One Young CA 2018
Michael Scott CA was announced as the winner of the 2018 ICAS One Young CA award, held in association with Investec Click & Invest, at a ceremony in London last night.
Michael was distinguished as deserving of the title from a group of exceptional finalists to represent Young CAs, ICAS and the chartered accountancy profession to the wider world.
2015 One Young CA Indy Hothi presented the award alongside ICAS CEO Bruce Cartwright CA at Landing Forty Two on 21 June as part of the ICAS Young CAs Summit.
Indy said: "The judges were absolutely blown away by Michael's social awareness and conscience. They found him inspiring, engaging and admired the hard work and dedication he gives to his commitments."

Michael is Accounts Senior and Supervisor at EQ Accountants in Glenrothes. His work with the firm sees him managing the financial and statutory compliance of over 100 clients while also holding key roles within the company's tax and R&D teams. He is a member of EQ's Technology group and is working to innovate and prepare solutions for the changing role of accountants.
Beyond EQ, Michael works with a number of charitable organisations. He is Deputy Group Leader at HCPT The Pilgrimage Trust, which organises and facilitates spiritual retreats abroad for disabled and disadvantaged children. He also acts as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for Fife Gingerbread, supporting vulnerable families in his local community.

Michael featured in the ICAS Top 100 Young CAs 2018 and his dedication and down-to-earth attitude were highlighted throughout the competition. Nominators described him as motivated, compassionate, inspiring and intuitive.
He will now represent ICAS and the chartered accountancy profession at the One Young World Summit in The Hague later this year. The conference brings together inspiring young people from all over the world who are committed to making a positive difference.
He said: "Winning the title of One Young CA 2018 is an incredible honour. I am very proud to be a member of ICAS and I am aware this award carries with it a level responsibility to represent the next generation of CAs. That is something I don't take lightly and I will do my best to live up to my predecessors.
"The CA is a powerful, well-recognised and highly respected qualification. People look to us to be valuable members of society and make a positive impact. I absolutely believe we can create tangible change."
In addition to the category winners, two CAs were honoured with special awards recognising their contributions to the profession.
The President Award recognised Gregor McKellar CA, CFO of the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap. His contributions to the local community have had a profound impact on healthcare in the region.
Gregor flew in from Cambodia to attend the Young CAs Summit and receive his award.
He said: "I feel absolutely humbled to have been recognised from among all these fantastic young CAs. This is a great opportunity to show how you can have an impact and how the qualification can help you contribute to issues in society."
The Chief Executive Award was given to Rachel Pigott CA, who particularly impressed with her commitment to developing and helping young people reach their potential. She is Head of Finance at leading social enterprise Brightside, which works to connect mentors with ambitious young people to make a positive difference to their lives.
Rachel said: "I am thrilled and completely surprised to have received this award. I feel very humbled to have been recognised by ICAS and am looking forward to the future."
