Meet the 35 CAs under 35 judges

With the search underway for the 2017 35 CAs under 35 and ICAS One Young CA, held in association with Investec Click & Invest, we meet the diverse and talented group of CAs and industry leaders that make up this year's expert judging panel.

Bringing a wealth of experience and influence in a variety of different sectors to the table, these are the professional kingpins who will single out the most promising and inspiring young members of ICAS.

Jim Bishop CAJim Bishop CA

ICAS Council Member

Jim retired from his role as Senior Partner, Scotland at Ernst & Young in December 2014. He previously spent over 30 years with the Big Four firm, holding a number of senior leadership positions including Head of Audit (North Regions) and was Lead Partner sponsor of the Entrepreneur of the Year programme in Scotland. He is currently Chairman of Scott Group Investments.

Jim qualified as a CA with EY in 1985. He joined the ICAS Audit & Assurance Committee in 2008 and was named Convener in 2011.


Neil Boyd CANeil Boyd CA 

Shared Service Director, Sky UK

Neil has more than a decade of experience in the Financial Services sector, having has instrumental roles with Standard Life Investments, Sainsbury's Bank and RBS. More recently, he was involved in the sale of Northern Rock and has built and delivered Sky's accounting function in Livingston.

Neil qualified as a CA with Arthur Andersen in 1996.

I am excited to be a part of the team who will recognise the contributions made by fellow ICAS members to the success of their organisations.


Oliver Cummings CAOliver Cummings CA

Commercial Director, Capitalise.com

Oliver has a wealth of experience in the finance sector having previously worked with Smith & Williamson, HSBC and Nauta Partners. He was also recently involved in the establishment of a partnerships team at FinTech company MarketInvoice.

Oliver qualified as a CA with EY in 2008.


Kirsty Dingwall CAKirsty Dingwall CA

Founder, Angelic Gluten Free

Kirsty left a position in the Big Four in 2012 to start up her own business: Angelic Gluten Free. Her company specialises in a range of 'free-from' food and its products are sold across the UK and in several international locations.

Kirsty qualified as a CA with EY in 2012.


Indy Hothi CAIndy Hothi CA 

Senior Economic & Strategy Consultant, EY

Indy is a Senior Investment Manager for the Department of International Trade and has established a number of key diversity initiatives at EY in his role as leader of the EY Sikh Network. He is a well-known activist and has undertaken extensive charity work in Haiti, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Nepal as a Khalsa Aid trustee.

Indy qualified as a CA with EY in 2014. He was named ICAS One Young CA in 2015.

The 35 CAs under 35 is an absolutely wonderful initiative... These individuals are future leaders in their own right and have the potential to change the world for the better.


Neil Jennings CANeil Jennings

Founder, Accounting for International Development

Neil left his role as the London Regional Director for Robert Half International to join Children’s Care & Protection in Rwanda (CCPRWA); a Rwandan NGO set up by orphans and refugees of the 1994 genocide to give vulnerable children across the country access to education. 

He founded Accounting for International Development (AfID) in 2009 to fill the sector’s urgent need for accessible financial management support.


Amanda McMillan OBE CAAmanda McMillan OBE CA

CEO, AGS Airports

Amanda held senior roles at Glasgow Airport for a number of years, during which time she was honoured with an Order of the British Empire for services to business and tourism. Now CEO of AGS Airports, the body that owns airports in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton, she was formerly a Finance Lecturer for ICAS.

Amanda qualified as a CA with KPMG in 1993.


Laura Morrison CALaura Morrison CA

Senior Manager, EY

Laura has spent the past eight years involved in tax advisory work at EY. She is currently involved with International Tax Services in the Energy sector, working with large multinational clients to advise on overseas taxes, restructuring and compliance matters.

Laura qualified as a CA with EY in 2013. She joined the ICAS Council in 2016.

Some of the best experiences I have had in my career so far have been from getting involved in new initiatives and looking for opportunities outside my normal day to day role.


Ian Reid CAIan Reid CA

Head of Commercial Finance, A.G. Barr

Ian was CFO for the 2014 Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Currently occupying a senior role at a FTSE 250 company, he also has experience within the Big Four and was previously the Chief Financial Planner for the Glasgow Housing Association.

Ian qualified as a CA with French Duncan in 2002.


Elizabeth Stewart CAElizabeth Stewart CA

Partner (C-Suite & Board Practice), Heidrick & Struggles

Elizabeth specialises in providing in-depth insight that enables Chairs, CEOs and C-Suite Directors to identify, evaluate and develop individuals, teams and Boards to operate at their best and secure sustainable organisational performance through planned succession.

Elizabeth qualified as a CA with PwC in 1984.


Rhona Thomson CARhona Thomson CA 

Executive Director & Senior Client Manager, Morgan Stanley Fund Services

Rhona has over 20 years of experience in investment and risk management. She was integral in implementing a program of Internal Control and Self-Assessment at Aegon and was responsible for the launch of National Australia Bank's Master Custody Service in the UK. 

Rhona qualified as a CA with EY in 1991.

The 35 CAs under 35 allows us to celebrate the diversity of experiences that young CAs have achieved in the early parts of their careers.


Carrie Tucker CACarrie Tucker CA

Chief Financial Officer, Exploration Capital Limited

Carrie has a varied background in corporate finance, currently overseeing a diversified portfolio of investments in traded equities, farmland and forestry, and venture capitalist companies at Exploration Capital. In 2012, she also took on the role of CFO at Gilo Industries Group Limited, a cutting edge engineering business based in the UK.

Carrie qualified as a CA with EY in 2007. She was named as the 2013 ICAS 'Rising Star'.


John Watson CAJohn Watson CA

Chief Commercial Officer, Edinburgh Airport

John has built a career in strong leadership, having been at the forefront of implementing change in the banking sector in the wake of the liquidity crisis. Those skills and his extensive experience in private equity and investment play a major role in his current role at the UK's fastest growing international airport.

John qualified as a CA with PwC in 2000.


Jeanette Wong CAJeanette Wong CA 

Finance & Planning Director, Charlotte Olympia

Jeanette spent two years at smoothie makers Innocent Drinks as a Marketing, Innovation & Supply Chain Finance Manager. Since then, she has held senior roles at iconic luxury designer names like Burberry and Jimmy Choo, where she was EMEA Financial Controller for two years before becoming Head of Finance for the region.

Jeanette qualified as a CA with EY in 2008.

As a CA under 35 myself, I am really interested in seeing the fantastic accomplishments of my fellow peers.
