The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has become the fourth associate member to join Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW).

Launched in 2013, CAW has since set a standard of excellence and enhanced the international relationship for over 615,000 chartered accountants across the globe.

With this announcement, ICAI has joined an international group of four institutes who have been awarded associate member status in recognition of their commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards. ICAI will have the opportunity to contribute to the further development of the chartered accountancy profession and promote exciting networking opportunities for its members.

President of ICAI, CA. M Devaraja Reddy, said: “We are delighted to join Chartered Accountants Worldwide as its associate member. Joining the organisation is a mark of recognition that our members adhere to the highest professional, technical and ethical standards. It will give our members international recognition and access to opportunities and services being offered by Chartered Accountants Worldwide. ICAI will be positioned as one of the global leaders through the partnership, and we look forward to working closely with our fellow members to promote the chartered accountant brand in our part of the world.”

During its 66 years of existence, ICAI has earned the reputation of a premier accounting body both in India and worldwide for its contributions in the fields of education, professional development and maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards.

Anton Colella, ICAS CEO, commented: "The addition of another professional body to the Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) family further emphasises the importance of chartered accountants around the globe. As a founding member of CAW, we are delighted to be welcoming ICAI and look forward to a promising future working together."

Pat Costello, Chairman of Chartered Accountants Worldwide, commented:  “I am delighted to see ICAI join the Chartered Accountants Worldwide family. We look forward to working with ICAI on developing the profession and enhancing the value to our members. We are continuously expanding our outreach, and now support over 615,000 Chartered Accountants around the world”.

ICAS is one of the five founding members of CAW, a group that also recently expanded to include the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) as Associate Members.
