Tributes are paid to the CAs who have recently passed away.

Charles Ronald Angus ATII CA

Charles Ronald Angus ATII CA, who lived in Annan, Dumfriesshire, died in October 2015 aged 80. He was born on 2 July 1935 and admitted to membership on 19 September 1958. After qualifying with McKerrell Brown & Gray, Mr Angus took a position at Holyoak, Evason, Jones & Co, was later a partner at EA Bell & Co, and then a partner at Saint & Co.

Alan Austin CA

Alan Austin CA, who lived in Kilmarnock, died on 9 January 2017 aged 77. He was born on 25 April 1939 and admitted to membership on 30 November 1965. After qualifying with Wm. Rogers Simpson & Son, Mr Austin took a position at CFC WA Ltd (Mushin, Nigeria), was later an accountant at Fyfe & McGrouther Ltd, and then a director at Almaran Properties.

Noble Dreghorn CA

The death has been announced of Noble Dreghorn CA, who lived in Florence, Alabama, USA. He was born on 14 August 1933 and admitted to membership on 27 March 1957. After qualifying with Todd & Gordon, Mr Dreghorn was a works accountant at Dunlop Rubber Company Ltd, group financial controller at the Alireza Organisation, and latterly, a consultant.

William Macintyre BACC CA

William Macintyre BACC CA, who lived in Kinross, died on 27 April 2017 aged 54. He was born on 10 February 1963 and admitted to membership on 28 November 1986. After qualifying with Arthur Young, Mr Macintyre was group accountant at EFT Group plc, was later director corporate services at Forth Valley Enterprise, and prior to his death was head of operational support at City of Edinburgh Council.

Humphrey John Ernest Passmore MA CA

Humphrey John Ernest Passmore MA CA, who lived in Edinburgh, died on 5 June 2016 aged 76. He was born on 5 August 1939 and admitted to membership on 25 November 1966. After qualifying with Martin, Currie & Scott, Mr Passmore took a position at Rolls-Royce Ltd, was later a project director at Lothian Health Board, and prior to retirement was a systems consultant at HJE Passmore CA.

Robert Smith Stewart CA

Robert Smith Stewart CA, who lived in Glasgow, died on 5 March 2017 aged 91. He was born on 3 April 1925 and admitted to membership on 28 March 1949. After qualifying with Gillespie & Anderson, Mr Stewart took a position at Lawrie, Prophet & Co (Uganda), and was later a commercial manager at MacLellan Rubber in Glasgow. In retirement, he volunteered his services to a number of organisations. He was the beloved husband of his late wife Margaret and will be sorely missed by his daughters Marilyn, Kathlyn and Sheila, and his five grandchildren.

Henry Strachan FCMA JDIP MA CA

Henry Strachan FCMA JDIP MA CA, who lived in Edinburgh, died on 27 May 2017 aged 90. He was born on 22 October 1926 and admitted to membership on 21 September 1951. After qualifying with McLachlan & Brown, Mr Strachan took a position at Renfrew Cafes Ltd, was later chief accountant at JA Weir Ltd, and financial director at Weir Paper Products.

David Cordrey Wooster BA CA

The death has been announced of David Cordrey Wooster BA CA, who lived in Maidenhead. He was born on 28 October 1925 and admitted to membership on 27 March 1957. After qualifying with Thomson McLintock & Co, Mr Wooster took a position with Cassleton Elliott & Co, was later chief accountant at Chambon Ltd, and management accountant at Central Asbestos Co Ltd.
