ICAS launches pathway routes for ACCA members

Busy reception

A new ICAS initiative has been launched offering ACCA members the benefits of membership of the world’s first professional body of accountants, and opening new avenues for personal development and potential career progression.

The ‘CA’ designation from ICAS is globally recognised as a leading accountancy qualification.

Our new ACCA pathways route is part of a wider pathways strategy.  In 2016 we launched a CIPFA route and this ACCA pathway is designed for individuals with seven years professional experience who wish to become a CA, and join the ICAS professional community.

The pathway route involves ACCA candidates of good standing being assessed on the knowledge and experience they have gained since qualifying.

In particular, the Test of Relevant Expertise (TRE) pathway is designed for ACCA members who are principals in chartered accountancy firms.

ICAS Chief Executive Anton Colella said: “Following on from last year when we worked with CIPFA on a joint initiative we have made a significant development opening up our Professional Pathways, and are now giving ACCA members the opportunity to become ICAS members.”

“There has been increasing demand by our firms to introduce a pathways programme and we are delighted to be able to do so.”

“We are increasingly seeing people making career changes in their professional life, and this new initiative has been developed to allow individuals to build on their existing knowledge, obtain our CA qualification and become part of our global professional community.”
