BBVA launches the ninth Open Talent FinTech to find the world’s most innovative start-ups.

The Spanish banking group will hold what they are calling the “fintech games to look for the most complete and innovative winners across multiple sectors and areas of expertise,” with a potential prize pot of more than €200,000.

Alongside the Global Trends competition, open to anyone from any country, there are more than 15 regional contests and three focused worldwide competitions on the themes of identity, artificial intelligence and FinTech for companies.

Describing the Global Trends competition, BBVA said they are "looking for the kind of innovative thinking that will help shape, change and grow the digital banking sector in the future, so that banks like BBVA continue to deliver excellent service and products to customers and clients."

The winners of these three categories will receive a prize of €30,000, a week of immersion in Madrid with senior executives of the bank, and a place at the grand final of BBVA Open Talent Global Summit.

Two further competitions will take place to identify the best FinTech ideas from female entrepreneurs and for ideas promoting financial inclusion.

The victors of each category will meet at the BBVA Global Summit in October to compete against each other for the title of fintech of the year and winner of BBVA Open Talent 2017.

Start-ups have until 17 July to register for the Open Talent contest, with dates for the regional contest varying.
