Former ICAS President Jim Pettigrew CA appointed Non-Executive Director of Rathbone Brothers

Jim Pettigrew CA has been named a Non-Executive Director of Rathbone Brothers and its subsidiary, Rathbone Investment Management. He has also been appointed to the audit, remuneration, risk and nomination committees.

Jim is currently Chairman of CYBG, The Edinburgh Investment Trust and Scottish Financial Enterprise. He is Vice Chairman of RBC (Europe) and Senior Independent Director of crest Nicholson Holdings. 

Previously, Jim has been a Non-Executive Director of Aberdeen Asset Management, AON UK and Hermes Fund Managers. He was also CEO of CMC Markets UK, COO of Ashmore Group and Group Finance Director of ICAP.

Jim qualified as a CA in 1984 was President of ICAS from 2014 to 2015.

Rathbone Brothers Chairman Mark Nicholls said: "I am delighted that Jim has agreed to join our board. His breadth and depth of experience as an Executive and Non-Executive Director in the financial services industry will be of great value to Rathbones in the years ahead."

Stephanie Henwood-Darts CA joins Thomas & Dessain Limited

Stephanie Henwood-Darts CA has moved to executive recruitment firm Thomas & Dessain Limited to lead their international business development and also act as a recruitment consultant, specialising in the funds industry.

She formerly spent over three years with Saltgate, an independent fund administration firm, and was responsible for overseeing the administration and accounting for a variety of well-known blue chip clients. Stephanie qualified as a CA in 2011 with EY.

She commented: "I will be using my professional expertise and experience in the funds industry to deliver a unique recruitment experience in various jurisdictions including Jersey, Guernsey, London, Luxembourg and Dublin."

KPMG UK elects new Chairman

Bill Michael will succeed Simon Collins as Chairman of KPMG in the UK when his term ends in September 2017.

Simon has held the position since 2011 and in that time, the firm has seen annual revenues exceed ¬£2bn for the first time.

Bill has been with KPMG for nearly 30 years and is currently Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets. He is a respected authority on banking culture and behaviours, having been a special adviser to the UK’s Treasury Select Committee on Banking Standards in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

Bill also represents KPMG on the FICC Market Standards Board and at many other high-level forums.

He said: “The market opportunity for KPMG has never been greater and I am excited about leading the firm to help our clients through their biggest challenges.

“My priority will be to drive an inclusive culture, which underscores KPMG’s reputation as a magnet for talent. I am determined to pick up the baton from Simon and champion greater diversity both within our own firm and the wider business community.”

Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) makes addition to Board

Mike Norris has joined Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) as a non-executive member of the Board to offer professional insolvency expertise to the Executive Agency of the Scottish Government.

Mike previously led operations for Max Recovery in the UK, Canada and the Netherlands. He was Director of Policy for the UK Insolvency Service during the implementation of the 2002 Enterprise Act and chaired the process to review the individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) market.

AiB Chief Executive Richard Dennis commented: “Following Mike’s appointment, our Advisory Board is as strong as it has ever been, with representation from across our stakeholder base.

“His background in the creditors’ sphere compliments our other members’ knowledge of the debt advice, legal, corporate insolvency and restructuring sectors, ensuring we have a real depth of skills and experience to draw upon.

Fellow insolvency experts Bryan Jackson CA and Laurie Manson CA joined the AiB Board last year.

Strathblair Associates hires Non-Executive Director

Jack Ogston has been named as a Non-Executive Director and Advisor to a range of businesses at Strathblair Associates.

He formerly spent 36 years with Clydesdale Bank, most notably as head of the Bank's Corporate Banking & Structured Finance Division in Scotland. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

Jack is also Chairman of Pike & Bambridge, a Non-Executive Director of the Scottish Building Society and Treasurer of Cancer Support Scotland.
