Maxwell Chassels CA joins Johnston Carmichael
Maxwell Chassels CA, a Top 100 Young CA in 2018, has joined Johnston Carmichael as Private Client Tax Director.
Maxwell joins the firm after spending the last six years at Deloitte, where he most recently held the role of Senior Manager, Private Client Services.
In his new role, Maxwell will be advising private-equity backed and high-growth companies on management equity plans and transactions.
First female Chair of Deloitte Global Board of Directors announced
Deloitte has announced that Sharon Thorne has been appointed as Chair of Deloitte Global Board of Directors, making her the first woman to hold the position.
Sharon is currently Deputy CEO and Managing Partner Global & Strategy of Deloitte North West Europe, and will succeed David Cruickshank, who has completed his four-year term.
Sharon said: "As Global Chair, my focus will be on evolving our governance model in support of our global strategic ambitions, and positioning the Board to stay ahead of the complex challenges presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
New CFO for Kinross Gold
Canadian-based gold mining company Kinross Gold has named Andrea Freeborough as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 May 2019.
Andrea first joined Kinross in 2009 as Vice-President, Corporate Controller. She went on to hold the roles of Vice-President, Finance, and most recently Vice-President, Investor Relations and Corporate Development.
J. Paul Rollinson, President and CEO of Kinross said: “Andrea’s successful track record at Kinross and throughout her career, including accounting, international finance, M&A, and deep management experience, will be an excellent addition to our leadership team.”
Aviva appoints new CEO
Aviva has announced that Maurice Tulloch has become Chief Executive Officer.
Maurice will take over the role from Sir Adrian Montague, Chairman of Aviva, who has been acting in an executive capacity pending the appointment of a CEO.
Maurice is currently Aviva’s Chief Executive Officer, International Insurance and has responsibility for Aviva’s life insurance and general insurance operations in France, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Turkey and India.
Maurice said "I am honoured to lead Aviva, a business I’ve been part of for 26 years.
"There is a clear opportunity to realise Aviva’s significant but untapped potential. Aviva is financially strong, we have a well-known brand and excellent businesses. But there is more to do to improve returns for shareholders."
New VAT Partner named at RSM
RSM has appointed Peter Williams as a new VAT Partner in its Birmingham office.
Peter joins RSM from Deloitte where he was a Director the firm's indirect tax practice.
Peter said: "I’m delighted to have joined RSM.
"It’s a great business with some of the very best advisers in the Midlands market doing amazing things for their clients."
