Paul Oberg CA named Director of Finance at the Land Trust
The Land Trust, a national land management charity, has announced the appointment of Paul Oberg CA as new Director of Finance.
Paul's previous work in the third sector has included a Trustee position with The Art House, a Head of Finance role at Solace Enterprises and, most recently, Finance Director at Advantage Public Services.
He joined the Land Trust in November 2015 as Financial Controller and became Acting Director of Finance in March 2016.
Paul said: “I really value working for the Land Trust and knowing that my part in maintaining healthy finances supports charitable objectives that are improving lives.”
Euan Hall, Chief Executive of the Land Trust, added: “Paul’s wealth of experience and expertise make him the ideal fit for the organisation and I’m delighted that he joins us permanently to further enhance the Land Trust’s finance operations and business strength.”
Paul McGettrick CA announces return to Grant Thornton
Paul McGettrick CA will return to Grant Thornton in Glasgow as new Associate Director after an absence of eight years.
He was previously Corporate Finance Manager at the firm before moving to Arngrove Construction Services in 2009. Since then he has held Associate Director appointments at Lloyds Banking Group and the Bank of Scotland.
Paul commented: “Grant Thornton has some pretty ambitious, exciting growth plans and I couldn’t resist returning to the business that I cut my teeth in.
"There’s a real sense of direction and purpose within the firm right now and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in and working with some of the most dynamic, growth hungry businesses in Scotland.”
Iain Walker CA moves to French Duncan
Iain Walker CA has moved back to his home town of Glasgow from Bermuda to take up the role of Senior Manager in French Duncan's corporate advisory team.
Iain relocated to Bermuda in 2009 with KPMG where he was a Transactions & Restructuring Senior Manger for five years. He then joined Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings as a Corporate Finance & Strategy Manager and has also previously worked with PwC and Deloitte.
Graeme Finnie, Managing Partner at French Duncan said: “Iain brings with him a huge amount of industry experience and we are proud to have him on board. He will add further strength to our team and we are looking forward to introducing Iain to our clients.”

New Head of Forensic Accounting at CVR Global
CVR Global have expended their forensic services offering with the appointment of Daniel Djanogly as Head of Forensic Accounting.
Daniel joins CVR Global from FAs Global, the forensic accounting division of Cunningham Lindsey, where he was Director of Litigation and Dispute Services. Daniel is an experienced Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner, a Chartered Arbitrator, and is author of practice guidance for the ICAEW Forensic and Expert Witness Group.
He said: “The firm has a strong vision to continue to expand, and in growing its forensic accounting services as key to the firm’s growth.
"I’ve known the partners in the firm for many years, and the direction the business is going and its aspirations for the future attracted me to this role and I’m confident it will be a good fit for both parties.”
New Managing Partner makes changes to BDO leadership team
Paul Eagland has taken over as Managing Partner of BDO, following the announcement of his appointment in May. His promotion comes with several new changes to the firm's leadership team.
National Head of Tax Andy Butterworth joins Scott Knight, National Head of Audit & Assurance, and Wendy Walton, Head of Global Private Client Services, in the new arrangement.
Chris Grove, Corporate Finance Partner, heads up BDO’s National Transaction Services team and has also been added, along with Forensics Partner Gervase MacGregor, who is Head of International Advisory Services and head of Forensic Accounting.
Two Independent Non-Executives (NIEs), Lesley MacDonagh and Simon Figgis, also join the leadership team.
